This stud is embedded somehow in the frame and passes out through the removable subframe under the engine and holds the LH footpeg on. This was stripped when I first got the bike (77GL) a few yrs ago so I re-threaded the end to the slightly smaller 7/16" UNF to keep my footpeg from falling off. Now I have removed the LH subframe because the doubler pad that the kickstand is attached to broke in half (split down the middle - no corrosion like Randall suggests but the crack almost looks like it was induced by vibration) . My buddy the welder says to cut back on the cheeseburgers. HA HA. Anyways I would like to replace this 12mm stud while I have it apart. A little gentle persuasion with vice grips had no effect. Next, some heat. However I am thinking someone else may have had this problem or know if Honda had any weird way other than threads of attaching this stud (which btw is not listed as a separate part). Part 2; It doesn't appear to be welded. I applied a little heat but I didn't want to burn a lot of paint off the frame, so I applied some Kroil and will wait a day. I sensed some movement when using a pipe wrench with 2' of pipe, but I think the stud itself was twisting, so I stopped. I am looking for someone to say "yes it is threaded, keep trying". Hasn't anyone delved this deep in this area? Hank
