    Was I mistaken or was it rear wheel drive?

    Take enough weight out of the back of a mini, put some good grippy tyres
    on the front, and that's what happens. :)

    Not necc. 1340 or so would do, but it might have one of the revvier
    Cooper lumps.
    Definitely mistaken - FWD, the limited slip diff would enable the spin
    turns around the cones - that and a bit of very skilful handbrakery.
    Stripped-out shell - looked like a modded shell that may even be
    fibreglass - beam axles with coilovers are de rigeur for competition
    work, which locate the rear much better and lose a lot of weight over
    the standard suspension and subframe.
