Does the service book carry positive ID of the owners spouse then, or
    summink?

Maybe it was his mistress... or a thief... or simply Mr Evans, having
    recovered from the op...

Can I just point out this thread now reminds me of South Africa too?

But you said it was a K5? The gear indicator is built into the clocks
    on the K5.

Well it doesn't even exist on the earlier models.

I was just pointing out that it may not have been a K5 as the OP said.
It's feasible that someone would buy an aftermarket LED gear indicator
(eg datatool) for an earlier model year gixer but there wouldn't be
much point if it were a K5 with a gear indicator already built in.

The bloke on the 750 that stopped to lend a hand said it was a K5...

It could have been many things because of the state of it. New
    plates.

Lad and his mate driving around in laddo's car at about 1.30am. Laddo
puts the car into the tree[1], passenger side takes the full force.
Laddo's mate died, and it appears he was a very popular chap.

From the congregations I saw every day for about a week they were about
18ish, probably 17. Most of the attendees were in school uniform,
hence the 6th form ages guess.

[1] you can't miss it[2] - even when the flowers are gone it's missing
a lot of bark on one side
    [2] evidently

We had something similar here, though it was a bloke on his bike "died in a
motorcycle crash" - which actually turned out he lost control whilst riding
without a helmet on down a local street and hit a parked car.

However big groups of grieving youngsters and, according to the local paper,
his 'best' friend camped by the site for several days.

Why I'm not sure - grief process or something I guess.

There is a fair difference between the K5 and the K4... were the indicators
    in the mirrors for instance?

Did it have a FOAD ugly titanium exhaust can?

Then again, it's entirely possible the person who owned it was a complete
muppet and installed their own gear indicator just to check the inbuilt one
    wasn't lying.

I've never seen the point of the things anyway. I mean, you've got a
rev counter, you can feel the power - if the revs are low and you need
more power then just change down; if you're not needing to accelerate
much more soon, change up. It's not rocket science, FFS.

.... and if it won't change down any further, you're in 1st.

If it won't change up any further, you're already in top and you should
remember by now that B12s only have a 5-speed box, FFS. Every fucking time.

It's bollocks isn't it? Why do people feel the need for all this
'grief' being on public display? I've never needed to do that - I can
go to the funeral of a friend and reflect on the good times we had
together, feel sad that there will be no more and then move on. It's
what you have to do to remain sane.

All this putting flowers out where some scrote has piled his stolen
escort into a tree is utter crap - I'd arrest the 'mourners' for
littering if I had my way.

I don't believe it is actually genuine grief. More an infantile and
pathetic form of attention seeking behaviour.
