Anyone got a good one going spare as an upgrade for my track SV650
    please?

Why not get the current one serviced and sorted
with the correct spring for you? It'll be a much
better idea than getting a fucked shock off a
different bike, only to have to pay to get it
    serviced and resprung for you.

I'm sure you know loads of places that'll do
it for you, but I can recommend Clive Horton,
the ex 250 GP racer, at Racing Lines in Derby
as I send all my stuff to him.

I can see where you're coming from, but the standard SV shock is totally
unadjustable for rebound or compression damping - all there is to adjust
is spring preload. The Gixer Thou K1/K2 shock is the same length eye to
eye and has the same rate of spring with fully adjustable comp and
rebound damping. What I intend to do is send the K1/K2 shock away for a
rebuild to my weight/spec rather than one that gives me no future
    adjustment.

My SV shock has 25K miles on it, at this mileage it's due replacement or
    a rebuild.

Ah, I see. I'm spoilt with having semi-decent kit
on most of the bikes I own :-D

Nice tip for the SV owners there, too.

    PS. Fuckface.
PPS. Couldn't do a whole post without insulting
    you at least once.

    **** you, bignose.

If you want to upgrade a curvy pre-'03 SV then a ZX636 rear shock is the
way to go. They are a different length shock to the injection model and
    are sprung to suit.

I see what you did there, shorty!
Same tip as the older 600/750/900 SS bikes; fit the
shock from the later FI bikes as they're 10mm longer
and give you much better ground clearance. Drop the
forks through the yokes to compensate and it's a much
    better bike.

Are you sure about the spring? Everyone I know that put the gszr shock
on the SV had to change the spring.

Should one find one's self in possession of a K3 Bandit 1200, on which
the stock shock feels less than adequate at only 11000 miles, is it
worth attempting adjustment (and if so, any suggestions for a
mild-mannered 15-and-a-bit stone rider), or is there a reasonable
    option for replacement?

The springs are rated the same for both injection model SV650 and GSXR
    1000 K1/K2 at 430# (whatever that means)

Have you checked things like static sag etc, or adjusted the damping in
any way since you bought it?

As you were, I'm thinking of the carbed version. Nothing to see here,

No. It is as it was when it left the shop, wear and tear

Why didn't you just call me!
I don't know which box it's in but I have one that did under 10k on that
bike before the maxton went in. I can dig it out next weekend.

If you're interested it could be a part of a little bit of work I need
doing, Pip thought you might be willing. Nothing difficult, the B12 needs
proper tidying and I have no garage facilities in Leeds.

Depending on how it turns out I can decide to sell/retain the beast.

Shit! you could have had a good game with me and just sent yes please. I'd
have had the mother in Law's garage turned inside out going utterly fucking
    mental ;o)

OTOH doesn't he have it sitting unused.
Ah well a plan emerges, we can talk about that.

I'm not that evil, but I did think about it.
    I haven't asked directly, I guess he's keeping it as a spare.
