I need a set for my 900 Divvie. There's loads of stuff on Ebay but the thing
is if I buy all the different bits from different people will it all fit
together or do they alter the design every couple of days to **** things up.
Any advice about pannier size ? I'm thinking of filtering and general
    handling.
    TIA

  2. Get Yamaha's own stuff (Krauser gear, made for them, it looks like).
Then you know it will fit.

The problem with the 900 Divvie is that you have to drill holes in those
long plastic side panel flanks for just about any luggage set to fit.
Which m,eans, in turn, that if you try and sell the bike without the
gear, it looks a bit nasty.

  4. Ah, OK, it was the genuine Yamaha (Krauser) stuff I was thinking of.

I bought a full set of Givi for my Divvy 900 from M&P. It cost a lot (£500
minus 10% if I took interest free credit?) but fitted on without any
drilling or cutting of side panels. If you can find some second hand Givi
panniers they should fit straight onto a wing rack. The man at M&P seemed to
know what he was talking about, but that was 3 years ago so he may have
    moved on.

    GIVI is modular in design.

The panniers, Wingracks, Monoracks are the same for each bike.

If you want a full 3 pannier set (2 side + topbox) then you will need a
    Wingrack plus the 3 boxes.

In addition you will need a specific kit to fit the Wingrack to your
bike. According to http://www.givi.it/home/frame.asp it is part no.
    Y215.

Therefore, go to Ebay & the like. Buy Givi panniers and a wingrack, even
if it says "to fit a Blackbird". Then go along to your nearest Givi
dealer and buy the fitting kit for your bike (could be 20 quid or 70
    depending on complexity).

For a topbox a 46ltr pannier will do. Can usually get 2 helmets in it.

For side panniers, 42 litres is about as large as I'd go. Any bigger and
    they are too wide.

Note: Kappa boxes fit Givi hardware.

  8. TOG, he say: always go for big panniers and small top boxes unless you
want to **** up the handling.

Aren't there two systems made by Givi that are not interchangable?

I thought there was monolock and monokey.

Yes and no, the 305 has got a wingrack fitted, she prefers her own
panniers, which are of the smaller size but can fit if necessary mine.

The top box is a monolock and she has an adaptor plate bolted onto the
wingrack, it can be removed easily if she wanted to use a larger top box.

Or go for small panniers and a big top box if you still want to filter
at something near normal speed. Fill the top-box with light, fluffy,
things and store the heavy stuff further forward. The best compromise
is a top-box that can take two full-face helmets and *no* panniers :)
