Getting GPS for the bike - units, retailers?

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Tristan Greaves, Sep 12, 2003.

  1. Hi all,

I've been looking into getting a GPS unit for the bike (and car as well,
I guess) as a toy which could also be useful at times.

Now, here's a company which specialises in this -- but seem a bit
    expensive !!

    http://www.adventure-motorcycling.co.uk/

For example: The "base" GPS V they sell for £425 (not including VAT),
    whereas places like:

    http://www.gpsw.co.uk/details/prod494.html

.... sell it for £389 all inclusive!

Anyway, if anyone has any recommendations about kit or UK retailers then
please let me know. The GPS V is a unit I have actually played with
myself, as a mate has one, but I'm open to alternatives.

    Thanks,

    Tris.

GPSW are pretty damned good (and local to me, too!).

That's a decent number compared to the average high-street price.
Now, if you're wondering about the GPS V, check out the thread

I know nothing about GPS as I seem to have an inbuilt variation of the
    CPS [1] system.

However, some BMW GS riders talk incessantly about the devices. Check out
    their forum at http://www.ukgser.com/forums/ .
