    Hello,
I just purchased a Sprint ST that I will take delivery of soon,
but maybe I made a mistake not to check insurances first.

In fact the best quote I got online that includes
    liability/comprehensive/collision is 4500$ from Progressive,
followed by 6000$ from bikeline and toped by GEICO
at 8000$, with a few others inbetween. What the hell
    is going on?
Hope the numbers go down when I call in person on monday.

I had my motorcycle endorsment for a year and was
paying 880$ for a new Yamaha FZ6. This was with a small
ins company that my dealership hookem me up with.
    I am 26 btw

So my question is, was everyone else getting these kinds
    of rates online?

  2. My 18YO son, who still only has a motorcycle permit, got a
liability-only quote of $110/year from some insurance company whose name
I could get from him if you really wanted it. Our regular insurance
agent recommended them for motorcycle-only insurance, as they do not
insure motorcycles for people who do not also drive cars.

    I'd appreciate it very much...thanks

the ripoff part seems to be comprehensive and collision, which I need.

  5. I pay something like $75/month for my 2001 Sprint ST through
State Farm. I live in a fairly high-ticket zip code for
    insurance, though.

Check with Mike Felder. He can probably find you something
    reasonable.

    Thanks...I got quoted 6,400$ by them :)
Collision/Comprehensive is crazy expensive onn this bike for me.

I got 1,380$ from Farmers so I think I'll go with them.

I also recommend State Farm. ~$85/mo for full coverage on the 'busa when I
had three tickets and no good driver's discount. This was a few years ago,
at age 30 (14 years experience).

For liability, they only go by displacement. Nice for sportbikes, bummer
for cruisers. Make sure you quote your actual displacement, not the
marketing version, since they charge in a tiered fashion. Since one of the
tiers starts at 600cc, this can save you a fair amount of cash if you
insure a "600cc" supersport bike that actually displaces 599cc.

And unlike some insurance companies, they're pretty good when you actually
need them. I've had to negotiate with them for two totalled vehicles (one
my fault, the other covered through comprehensive until they could recover
from the other party). They were easy to deal with both times, and gave me
    a fair payout.

I ended up signing up with State Farm for 960$, with 500$ deductible
on collision and comprehensive. Very happy...and yes part of the bike is
financed and the credit union requires collision/comp, but I want it to.
Gives me peace of mind, since the bike is parked on the street in SF.
