I'll be trying out Zen's news server for the foreseeable future, at
a grand zero pence a month.

Before you try the Zen news server have a look in the zen.* newsgroups
about its poor performance over the last few months.

Before trying the Zen news server I'd have a look at the comments in
the zen.* newsgroups about its poor performance over the last few
    months.

Maybe the server has an introductory 2 for 1 offer.

I pay for claranews. I've been back on Der Deutsch for a few weeks,
because clara's a little bit slow. I'll go back to clara.

I use Clara as an ISP and have done for the past few years, they've had
bad points, but generally work ok. It's just that with Zen I can get
1Mbit for the price of 512K on clara..

I just did. At least with a paid-for service the registration waas
instant, better then the hanging around awaiting a login like they
used to do. For the amount I've downloaded from them over the past
five years, 10euro is a small price to pay.

Rarely do things with binaries, but I quite like the idea of getting a
nice little '/29' block of IP's so all my kit can have real internet
addresses, which is something they do for no extra cost.

If it's ok for the text newsgroups that'll do me fine.
I'm used to vague and evasive e-mails... I suspect I don't need to
    explain why. :)
Got the hardware already, no issue there.

    Bear says...
Indeed not. After getting herself to talk to NTL and explain that
I'd previously cancelled my account and that the bill they were
sending wasn't going to be paid they told us they had closed the
account and disconnected the line. I've just got another bill...

Pardon me if I'm confused. Your bird seemed very nice to me.

Is there another reason you'd be worried about Usenet binaries?

    Just asking, y'understand.
