In the last couple of hours I've noticed a fair few posts appearing on all the groups I use with the header as REPOST:then the original title. They are from lots of different users so it's must be an automatic thing rather than a few people manually resending stuff. Any ideas what's going on? -- Alex Hermes: "We can't afford that! Getting them here on easynews as well -- Catman MIB#14 SKoGA#6 TEAR#4 BOTAFOF#38 Apostle#21 COSOC#3 Tyger, Tyger Burning Bright (Remove rust to reply) Alfa 116 Giulietta 3.0l (Really) Sprint 1.7 75 2.0 TS (Badly bent) 155 TS Triumph Speed Triple: Black with extra black bits www.cuore-sportivo.co.uk
I suspect there was enough of a delay between the original posts and the cancels allowed some people to see the originals. I haven't investigated fully, but I think it might be related to this: http://groups.google.co.uk/groups?h...scoring=d&q=repost+group%3Anews.*&btnG=Search
Some news servers (Demon Internets for example) don't accept or process cancels. So you end up with both.. Phil
Tsk, tsk ... such intolerance !! Why not wait until he can read, and then ask him to check out the link ?
I suspect it was another attack of the skript kiddiez getting hold of a new cool program that does cancels (where cool == "written in 1997"). Looks like a lot of scattergun cancels going around affecting lots of people (or none at all depending on whether your news server accepts cancels). Phil
If you read the link to the thread on news.admin.net_abuse.usenet posted by Eddie, this doesn't seem to be the case.
