Can I just tell you that this is the best K bike BMW ever made. The
year, model, colour and black ally are all right.

The ABS1 was ok really, reliable enough, just a bit heavy.

    eBay 1989 BMW BLUE/WHITE K100RS Item number: 190035502857

The mileage and price are very *very* right.

It's an absolute **** of a place to get to and I don't have any more
room....but I'm chewing my hand off to keep it away from the Buy it Now
button. FFS someone please but it now.

Very nice. I wouldn't mind another K1, but the later edition that could
    take panniers.

Thus spake Pete Franklin () unto the assembled multitudes:
That's interesting. One of m'colleagues has the same model (*many* more
miles though) and his wiring loom *nearly* did the same thing a few weeks
ago (only two days after he'd given me a lift on it when my Trident had its
MOT). Turns out to have been due to fraying and eventual shorting of the
main loom as it passed around the steering head. He ended up having to
replace much of the loom. His has otherwise also been pretty much
    faultlessly reliable.

    I disagree completely!
The 16V had a horrible buzzy vibration at cruising speed.
The 1st M-Tronic incarnation is unreliable (and expensive)
Seperate DMI & ABS ECU's make it cheaper to repair electronics
The 16v coils would die sometimes
It's a PITA to do the shims
There is no appreciable performance gain and I much prefer the torque
    curve of the 8V

While we are at it, I don't really rate the paralever system. More to
maintain and heavy but the older shaft design wasn't particularly
    intrusive on the road anyway.

OTOH the 16V has better wheels (tyres) and the stunning 4 pot braking
system. I admit the old rim sizes are an annoying and limiting factor.

An '89 K100RS Ltd Edition like this will most likely run trouble free
for another 17 years if you sort out the Igniter heatsink, keep the
throttle body bank well lubed & put a decent (non splitting) fuel filter
in the tank. At worst you are going to change the clutch plate and
service the starter sprag clutch. The last batch were very well sorted
though and this has only done 15,000 miles FFS.

Not too much of a problem though as Avon Azaro ST45 and ST46 are available
and work awesomely well on the 8v KRS SE :)
