Even more risky to wheelie than the manual version, I would assume.
Steady now, steady. Ain't the same thing at all ...

What have you got Spete? I don't actually *need* anything - but the RHS
front fairing panels are badly scratched.
Have you got end-cans or the pickup coil cover? (sits on the RHS just
forward of the oil filler cap)

I've got the BoL already thanks.

all the little kiddies' 50cc "crossers"[1] are IIRC equiped with
centrifugal clutches and no gears. Not sure if that actually counts as
    an auto, mind.

[1] like the italjet that was the first bike I rode, aged about 8 or
    9.

    A quick google returns:

A full 4 speed auto rather than a twist and go.

On the subject of auto bikes I'm suprised that Honda haven't done an auto
    Goldwing yet.

I reckon that's a bloody good idea. One thing I found really hard to
get the hang of was changing gear when going over bumpy ground. Could
never seem to get my foot in the right place as the bike was being
    bounced around.

I plan on practicing next year cos I'm going to get a shite old mx
bike to wreck at Bickenhill MX track.

    Ta for that.

    The screen might be useful.

The panel is the wrong side & colour (I need black/teal) - so I'll just keep
looking for them at the breakers' yards.

Yup, I do the indicator cancelling thing too.

A long time ago I had a GS400 wot had an LED gear indicator - bit of a
novelty at the time. After that I had a GS550 but the gear indicator on
that wasn't so posh - just a row of numbers with bulbs underneath each
one. I think both bikes were T-reg (78/79?).

Neither could Honda, so they never made one.

The only autoboxes from Honda were the CB750A and CM400/450A, AFAIK.

The CB900C is the only bike I've owned that I've never wanted to have
another go on. Dull and unexciting as they come.

Back to the subject- I did own an '81 GS450E with a digital gear
    indicator. Not terribly useful.

  10. Ah. As I thought.
There's loads of bikes I never want to ride again....

The 400 is truly fun to ride in the way only an SOB of its era can be.
The 900 was an appliance, the 400 actually feels like a motorcycle.

'If I have to explain it, you won't understand'

But WTF do I know, I'm a mere chickwheels (and occasionally bitchwheels)
    rider.

Why? If it stops going faster, change up a gear. Repeat until warp factor 9

stopping? If the rear wheel is just locking and wibbling, then you're
changing down at the right time...

    What?
Is that not how you're supposed to ride.
Oh well, I never claimed to know anything.

I do that too. I also find myself doing it after sharp bends, even
    though i haven't indicated.

    No, I don't do that.

BMW has a gear indicator. I still try to snick it into 6th
(non existant). I think it's an utter waste of time.

  19. You know, I did almost the same. Living down south and saw birds from
elsewhere. Moved up north and met them from everywhere but.

Last (now ex)missus was from no more than 15 minutes drive from where I
    was living down south.

    also given up
