I haven't joined, but I've asked them for some information. The
reason I kept away from them for so long was because I didn't see the
point of joining them for the reason you state above.

From what I understand, clubs exclude people on the grounds that one
need to be a member of one of their groups to join. Say it's a
Hospital club, one would need to be an employee of that hospital to
join. However, it appears that GBMCC don't mind who joins...

"The club runs a non-discriminatory policy and any motorcyclist who
feels at ease with gay men and gay women can join. We have a few
rules, but there are two rules which are strictly enforced: to be a
member you must own a motorcycle and attend our riding fixtures on a
motorcycle. The Club has no dress code."

....As long as they have something with two wheels which I assume is to
cut down on the usual gay leather fettishist paying an annual sub to
    get their jollies.

Yehbut that doesn't really answer Pauls question, does it? The answer
is in there, y'know. I don't think it's got anything at all to do with
    being treated differently.

As for them being a target, that may be true, but I reckon they really
    don't GAF.

I do hope you feel the same when somebody with the time and money to
waste in court puts some effort into starting a Straights Motorcycle
    Club.

How about a Straights Bar without antipodean bar staff?

    Straight Pride anybody?

Well as long as they don't stop gay people from joining, what's the problem?
    Anywhere out of London.
Now you're just being silly. It's hard to imagine any of this hapenning for
any other reason than anti-gay sentiments. If you can't see the difference I
suggest you get your head out of your arse.

See my previous posting history regarding poofery and bullying of the
public at large. I ain't gonna argue with you about it cos I am not
about to be changing my opinions on the matter.

Ben Blaney emerged from their own little world to say
I'm late to this debate but, largely it is a legacy thing. When the club
was formed in 1977 the UK was a very different place. Unlike today many of
the membership would have been in the closet. Some still are as they have
family with particular beliefs for example.

I have been a member but find the club very cliquey. Most of the existing
membership have been members for many years: their average age is well over
50 and when they organise weekends away they stick to their sub-groups.
Consequently, I chose not to renew my membership.

Like Lozzo & BB I believe there is no *need* for such a club now. As the
club does not seem to be attracting many new members then it will
eventually cease to exist, IMHO of course.

Plus they can't be bothered to reply to my emails.

I can't be bothered to join.
