Does anybody know if GATSO cameras on the opposite side of the road
can flash you (facing towards you on the opposite side of the road)?
Just got flashed in the car (37 ish in 30 zone) on the A47 but was not
sure if gatsos normally flash drivers on the other side of the road!!!

Yes, used to be a fav pastime for me on the way to work on the Blade
to set a Gatso off (A428 Bourn), must have pissed the poor sods
traveling the opposite way at the time though.

GATSOs in Holland are certainly capable of this, as I know to my cost.

    Ovenpaa says...
I had that one flash me on the first day I had my new Firestorm in '98.
It was the last thing to happen on a very very bad day. I dropped the
brand new bike within a mile of picking it up causing 900 quis worth of
damage, I split with my live-in girlfriend of 5 years, had a massive row
with my eldest daughter that resulted in us not speaking for 3 weeks and
then got flashed by the Gatso. By the time I got home from Norwich I was
near suicidal. Luckily I didn't get an NIP.

The one on the 428 must always be out of film then, I set it off on
the way to Harwich (1) last month

    (1) Mit Daytona, this is not something I would try in a cage, just in
case. Interstingly tucked into the left hand side of the road at 70
mph does not appear to set it of, however speeds over this, or
positions closer to the middle of the road *always* get the desired
result, anybody local to Cambridge like to confirm this?

Was it a Gatso or Truvelo?
Gatsos are calibrated to photograph the rear of the vehicle - so if
you're going towards it it can't record your speed.
Truvelos are calibrated to photograph the front of the vehicle - as
there is no number plate on the front they can't get you.

    Either way you're OK.

Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, Stritchy
Except he was in a cage, so he could be fucked (for fixed penalty values
    of fucked).

  8. No. I was very glad to read about it earlier this year.
Yup. I triggered one on the A505 between Royston and Duxford. Couldn't
believe it... one flash, with me (in car) on the other side of the
    road heading towards it.

I was well relieved when the FOAK told me of that bug a couple of days
    later.

Yep. Only realised that after rereading the thread 'after' posting my
    reply.................. doh!

It's funny, on the odd occasions when I do have to drive a cage, I
have absolutely no desire to try and go fast!

Just got flashed in the car (37 ish in 30 zone) on the A47 but was not
Double flash. Also no white lines on my side of the road. Just got
back after one week and no NIP, thankfully. Only going 37ish in a
    30!!!
