Just wondering what you guys use for gasket remover ? Is there some aerosol
that makes removing old gaskets easy ?
    Thanks,

  2. I hope so! Over the years I've become a bit tired
of using a 1/2 spackling knife or a single edge
razor blade... There isn't an easy way to the best
    of my knowledge.

There are spray-on gasket removers, which appear to
be roughly the same as paint remover. They work, but
    watch the overspray!

Paint remover applied with a brush is likely to do
the same job at lower cost with less collateral damage.

  4. Methylene chloride will remove gaskets but I would want to spray it
around, it would take the paint off of surfaces that I want to remain
painted. So, buy a few "acid" brushes to apply it...

Try "Gunk` aerosol brake cleaner .... it dissolves most everything,
but don't get it on painted surfaces or breath too much of the fumes.
Spray it on outdoors and let it sit a while, then scrape.

    Hello, Don Fearn !

I believe EZOFF contains lye, which will attack Al, I wouldn't
want to leave it on Al for very long.

  8. Bzzt! Do NOT spray Easy-Off oven cleaner on any aluminum surface!
The sodium hydroxide (lye) will eat up aluminum. It would be OK on a
set of old Chevy cast iron cylinder head but motorcycle parts aren't
    cast-iron...

I've used a plastic windshield scraper with good success. It ruined
the scraper, but it was June so I didn't really care ;-)
