Zebee Johnstone is of the opinion:
It's not listed specifically, although the RTA lists "Z550", which could be
that (should be a Z550P, if it follows the model number convention of it's
big brother) or the older Z, I think. I don't know how picky the RTA gets
    about what's on the list.
I've got a CBX1000 fairing on my GT750, and it is truly a monster.
Certainly an older bike will have plenty of scope for adding something like
that - they've normally got no shortage of extra frame and stuff to hang
Seconded. And doing some time in the elements makes you appreciate your
contraption of fibreglass and plastic just that little bit more... <g>

  2. Absolutely. They (350) were wonderful bikes to tour on, However, if you
didn't give 'em a good flogging when you got to where you were going, the
power valves would gum up. Bloody things. ...and I'd get 25 km/L as well!

I don't recall the VT600 but the other two had bikini fairings (although it
may have been optional on the VT500)

There were 3 kinds of VT500: A cruiser clone, the "Ascot" that the
yanks got, and the VT500E for Europe. Here's a VT500E:

But good luck finding one, since there were only about 100 imported to
    Oz.

That's true, instead of spending $7k on a decade-old Pirate Bike with
the speedo wound back to 20,000km, you could spend $7k on a brand-new
    GPX250 with dealer warranty.

A bit of poetic licence there I think, but The Jackal had 43,000km on
it when I bought it in July 2001. It now has 117,500km. I've also
done a trifle over 2500km on Nameless Boy[1].

    Here's the most noteworthy trip:

Have had a look at a couple of these bikes- cheers... I thought
GS500's were vintage (always in blue) clunkers the stuff nightmares
    are made of.
Thinking VTR250 (good option if i'm willing to deal with the wind) or
a GS500 (couple around with farings) an F650 (very nice).

But I've still sent an email to the RTA ;-)

There's a difference between buying a motorcycle for $1500 and
bringing your own tins of soft drink to the pub... :)

A year ago there were 2 of them also in Canberra in the same colour
scheme as mine. Unfortunately they're a 20-year-old orphan bike, so
there are rapidly getting to be fewer and fewer of them around.
