The mexican and I spent the day with some friends that are most special..
We'd not made any plans other than the traditional Thanksgiving.. That's
spelled .. Bill prepares his from scratch cornbread dressing, gravy and all
the trimmings to compliment a perfectly turned out bird.. Well, we decided
to take a break when Tommy and his lovely wife Glenda offered the most
gracious invitation to spend this day of good food and cheer with them and
some other good friends..So I just left that bird in the freezer and we
arrived at Tommy's house about 1:20 in the afternoon.. Whew what a spread..
done to perfection.. We gave thanks around the table and each one of said
grace.. What a meal.. I'm tellin' you..

Glenda has a Rottweiler, spade female.. that doesn't know she is a dog..
lol.. She decided that I belonged to her within a couple of hours, I
couldn't shake her.. When I stepped outside for a smoke.. that dog went nuts
trying to get outside with me.. Everyone who knows me, is well aware that
I'm not very shy, but it started getting embarrassing when a Rottweiler the
size of this one accompanied me to the bathroom.. Jeez, Louise..

Anyway, we got back home well after my bedtime and the across the street
neighbors still had their family get together going on and they kept me
going till about 12:30 in the AM.. Now, here is the kicker.. good people and
mucho good food all day and most of the night.. Can't get any better than
    all that..

This morning .. checked mail on the computer and surfed around for a while..
dropping a few responses now and then, and decided it was time to take a
look at the Green One.. As long as it has been sitting, would you believe
that old sucker cranked on the first spin of the starter.. Yep.. sure did..
I'd expected a dead battery, at best.. When it smoothed down and that little
800 power plant commenced to warm up a little more, I decided "there ain't
no need in all this".. That's right peeps.. I went back in, grabbed a jacket
and some gloves.. The mexican went nuts on me for a few minutes and once I
got her settled a bit, I mounted up and eased the Green One down the
street.. My first intent was to just idle around the park for a while, to
    visit ..

Hell no.. the day was too damn pretty, I felt too good, and that Vulcan
hadn't been aired out for much too long.. Next thing I know I am crossing
Lake Dallas and running for Lewisville.. Bailed off 35 and headed west
toward Grapevine Dam.. where I rolled into one of the little overlooks that
surround Grapevine Lake.. A couple on a V-Star wheeled in and we introduced
ourselves.. After a couple of smokes and sharing a bottle of Gaterade, we
took off, hit 114 continuing west toward the speedway.. Not much going on
out there, today, but the lady hadn't seen it before and she was
fascinated... hmmmm.. I think she might have been a NASCAR fan, or
    something.. do you suppose.. <grin>

By the time we got back to the city of Grapevine we rolled by Wilhoite's and
didn't even stop since it looked pretty bare of bikers, today.. The very
nice couple broke off and went back toward Lake Dallas and I showered down
to head back to Irving.. DFW was busy and I just couldn't resist parking for
a while to watch those big ships come in and out.. When I sort of looked
around at my parking spot, I realized I had stopped at that old cemetary ..
LOL.. For some reason I kinda got me a little shiver and decided home was
an appealing destination .. Still chuckling I pulled out on the road again..
Hadn't gone more than a mile, and wham.. there was one of those airport cops
with his damned lights on behind me.. Well hell.. I pulled over and got
prepared to give that dude "what for".. Now.. ain't this a hoot ? All he
wanted to do was look my bike over and visit.. Seems that he was in the
market for a ride and just thought he'd ask me for some recommendations..
Nice guy.. We spent a few minutes shooting the breeze, when he got called
and I continued to La Casa..

Well that's about it folks.. Good Turkey day.. and today has been
outstanding.. C'mon now, I'm ready to make that run to Mexico.. (not).. Who
wants to go ? <big smile> Maybe, about March.. Regards to all ..

The ride I'm talking about above, was last year.. Looks like I won't be
making it this year.. I'm shooting for March '06 .. to make my next trip
down there.. If I just didn't have to stop at immigration, customs and gas
stops.. I'd just put 'er on automatic pilot and nap.. <grin>

I gotta admit that it is one of my favorite long distance rides .. Whew..
deep in the country down there is the last frontier for a biker.. That old
friend of mine in Guadalajara tells me that the crew down there is about 150
bikers, now.. Oh yeah.. he's got himself a new Harley, also.. From the
pictures he sent me, real sharp.. The friend we call El Negrine is
contemptious of Memo's new Harley and won't ride with him any more.. Memo
says when they are on a run, Negrine either pouts way in the rear or else he
nails that sucker and runs way ahead.. lol... Negrine thinks anyone who buys
a new motorcycle, especially a Harley is a poser.. He contends that the real
bikers build their own..Damn.. what a character.. He's got a motorcycle in
every room in his house, except the kitchen.. (the wife won't allow a
motorcycle there).. Each one is various state's of assembly..

    Take care JailCall..

‘‘Bill, as I was reading your ride composition, I honestly
thought that it was your last year's ride report. Believe it or not. And
what's interesting, I thought it was unbelievable last year and again
this year, that a cop would take time to pull you over, merely to brag
on your motorBike. When I say unbelievable, I am not saying it didn't'
happen, it's just an incredible incident. I am just amazed!’’
