Excellent! I'd pretty much finished, and I was wondering what to do next.
Changed, you say? I didn't realise you could do that.

Indeed. He's forgetting that not all bikes have front brakes good
enough to lock or lift the rear, and that on longer, heavier bikes,
the back tyre will still be on the ground even with the front one
    locked.

But with a modern sprotsbike, he's absolutely correct.

There is enough slowdown force from any (disk) front brake to make the
back skip under braking. I know this because I happen to like playing
with my bikes and can be seen braking with the back squirming around on
most days that I go out (usually deliberately). Then again I am a
    hooligan.

Brake technology old boy, brakes. Not wheelbase.

No. There is not. The 400/4 I had would not do so. Even when I'd
fettled the front brake (new pads, braided hoses, rebuilt caliper) to
the point where it could lock the front wheel it would not lift the
    rear even slightly.
Nope. Lots of weight, low down, and a long wheelbase will always be
able to keep the rear on the ground no matter how good the front
brake. In any case, it's not the brake itself, but the tyre, which is
    the limiting factor.

Well of course, I did forget the effect of a lardy arse in the equation.

I still stand by my point though.

Lardy arse? Well, I doubtless weigh more than short & skinny you, but
13 stone (at 6'2") is not exactly lardy, is it?
    You're still wrong.

Relative innit. 13 stone is lardy when you are struggling to get over
    10.
Gimme a bike, any bike, and I will happily prove otherwise.

Go and borrow CdC's gertrude, or Platy's fat thing, or any other
heavyweight cruiser for that matter. Or persuade Blaney to let you
borrow the ex-Ace 400/4, for that matter (although he's put a new
front tyre on it, which may give enough more grip to exhibit your
    suggested behaviour).

Oh do **** off, I have standards you know.
Snot about the grip at the front, it is about the lack of it at the back
as the weight transfers forward. Over enthusiastic use of the back
brake under hard braking will cause any tyre to skip. Even in the dry
    on shellgrip surfaces.

    Have I?

I thought I rode it to my Uncle's place and dumped it there, in a
garage with a MG Roadster that hasn't moved in four years.

I flew back to Qatar a couple of hours later, and haven't seen it
since. I don't think anyone else has, either.
