I need to remove the fuel tank to get to the air filter on my Bandit 600,
have read the Haynes manual thoroughly an it says the following:

    Keep filler cap closed

    Switch tap to "on" position

Remove fixings and lift rear of tank

    Disconnect fuel and vacuum hoses

Ahhhh, won't the fuel just piss out in the "on" position or is the tap shut
off because of lack of vacuum (via vacuum hose), and does the fuel only flow
when in the "pri" position ?

I know I can always drain the fuel off first but didn't want to do a
complete drain down every time I want to remove the tank if it isn't
necessary if you know what I mean.

Doesn't mention anywhere in Haynes that the fuel won't piss out, but nor
does it mention drain the bugger down or are they assuming that no idiot
would take a tank off with fuel in it? apart from me of course :)))

In the old days I used to just switch it to "off" which I ain't got now and
    whip the tank off.

    TIA, D

I never took the tank off my bandit but shurly the best way to find out
if the feul pisses out is to take it off and see if the fuel pisses out?

If it does, turn the tap round. If it /still/ pisses out, kink the hose
and hold it in place with some tape or a clip or something :)

Exactly that, unless your vacuum diaphragm is buggered. If you want a
fuel flood, you can always suck on the hose. As it were.
