Fuel protests

  1. Well, OK, but if that was what you meant then saying "smaller size
filler orifices" might have made it plainer.

(It still sounds like a furious back-pedal to me....)

  2. I suspect this is also bollocks.

As a journalist, you are no doubt fully versed in that.

OK, then - why is unleaded fuel crap, and leaded better?

It's not octane rating - you can make leaded fuel high-octane, if you
want. And you can buy 98-octane at any filling station.

Leaded fuel is better for valves? But engines have been designed for
unleaed fuel for well over 30 years. And they work well on it.

I might agree that unleaded is worse than leaded for, for example, a
1960s Triumph twin or a BL A-series engine, but apart from these museum
    pieces???

So go on - explain your reasoning. Your call.

Nobody wanted optimax at the place I tried, yesterday.

Suits me.. may cost a little more, but at least I got to my course, today.

I'll have a wee run out in an hour and get some more for tomorrow.

If the HGV bully boys want to play **** on the roads, tomorrow, I reckon
the offroad capabilities of the moped may be tested on grass verges and
    central reservations.

I go back to work tomorrow, my commute may have to take into account the
pile of laundry I dumped on the landing..

    Working from home rocks.

Oh do **** off, they're no worse than the previous bunch in this
    respect.

At least he's actually sat on a Motorbike... when Glenda said they'd be
part of an integrated transport policy in 1996/7...

    Absolute bollocks.
The point is, he'll do anything if he believes it'll endear him to the
populous, regardless of whether or not he actually believes in it.

The man is the most shallow Prime Minister we've had in years, and todays
jumping on the cricket band wagon is yet another example of what a shallow
shitehawk he is - the 'I'll do anything to get on TV' crowd who participated
on "The Hopefuls", on "The Tube" on Channel 4, springs to mind - maybe his
recent time might have been better spent heading off the potential fuel
crisis tomorrow, rather than hoping that the euphoria surrounding an
national sporting victory might rub off on him, in terms of 'feel good'
    factor?

And it would be refreshing to see him actually tackle something to the
satisfaction of all, rather than quietly legislating in the calm interim,
against anything he doesn't particularly agree with, or that doesn't
particularly agree with him, lest you wish for the populous to become deeply
disenchanted with the whole 'democracy' scenario...

I'll be glad to see the back of him, the shallow ****.

Well, given the context (which you removed) was that 'Tony and his
chums' were more likely to forget a bike didn't take 20 quids worth of
fuel than the previous bunch i think you're sadly mistaken.
Sure, that was exactly his line on Iraq.
Jesus. Do you really believe all of that?

You think Major would have been any different over any England/UK
    sporting triumph?

And what do you propose he does about the 'fuel crisis'? Oh yeah, back
down to the public and "do anything if he believes it'll endear him to
    the populous"?

Doing something to the "satisfaction of all"? Isn't that again "do
anything if it believes it'll endear him to the populous"?
Jesus. Do you really believe all of that?

I'm no fan of Labour but when I look at the previous PMs I wouldn't say
he's the worst of the ones I remember by a long bloody way. I'd rather
have someone that listened to public opinion when they've a majority
    than someone who didn't.

I'd be interested in some hard evidence to back that claim.

In the absence of hard data: the Guzzi is supposed to have leaded but
runs worse on LRP and not just because there's now a lower sales turnover
of the stuff. It never ran well on it.

Crisis, what crisis? IMO, any panic, protest or imminent national
    collapse is utterly imaginary.

  12. I remember that Formula Shell stuff - the fuel that was supposed to
sludge up Vauxhall engines. I tried my Guzzi on that, and it, too, ran
    like shite.

Certainly seemed to, yes. Why else would you claim that cat-equipped
    bikes couldn't use LRP?

Ah. Fair point, I suppose. Didn't know that LRP still used the old
nozzles. But the question remains - would it do any harm to a
    catalysed engine?

I thought I'd better join the other plucky Brits in sourcing some petrol
    - amongst other things - so off I toddled to the Texaco on the seafront
(94p) and filled up there were no queues or punch ups there was plenty of
fuel as was the case at the Esso by Hove station except that was 93p
    (curses).

I'm now ready to strut my Aslef stuff in Guildford this evening back at
the TUC for last orders. Hooray for motorcycles!

Anyway, back to the point "Crisis, what crisis?"
