Waste of money. Purely placebo effect (for the owner not the engine).
Try getting a straight answer as to the chemistry of how it works.

What; are you telling me that there's [gasp] STUPID people in the world?!!?
    No way.
Next you'll be saying that Big Brother participants aren't celebrities, the
Sydney Footy Show isn't funny (or about footy!), Honda always try to
cheap-fake their motorcycles and there's not many aus.cars posters in
    Mensa!
    Heresy.

Hehe, yeah basically, like I said placebo effect, someone drops a couple
of hundred bucks down for something and then they WANT it to work, in
the absence of any scientific testing there's no way of knowing otherwise.

"a fake treatment, an inactive substance like sugar, distilled water, or
saline solution -- can sometimes improve a patient's condition simply
because the person has the expectation that it will be helpful.
Expectation to plays a potent role in the placebo effect. The more a
person believes they are going to benefit from a treatment, the more
likely it is that they will experience a benefit."

A prophylactic effect is still a health benefit, and I would suggest
that everyone reading this understood the reference's intent - ie your
engine isn't going to "get better" you'll only think it does.

It's unfortunate that I can't <plonk> you in googlegroups (and given the
reliability of iprimus thats where I read half of ausmoto now), and I'll
have remember to redo this in a couple of weeks when I change ISP's,
nevertheless after the lack of rationality shown over the last 8 weeks
I'm really no longer interested in your weirdities.

  12. nope

a mate did build a 'fuel leading device' for an older veagle he has so
as to be able to run on unleaded

it is like a fuel filter with a removable top, that is loosely filled
    with lead sinkers

    the theory being that either;

the movement of the vehicle will abrade the sinkers causing the fuel to
be contaminated with particles of lead

lead will leach into the fuel through the erosion of sinkers by liquid
flow...much the way that rocks leach into the sea

So far it has been 4 yrs running a leaded engine on unleaded without
damage. The engine was stripped and checked for wear about a year ago
    and all was perfect

Mined ewe, it only gets used as a weekend car...club races, hillclimbs,
    sprints etc

They're not much good, but I've got a couple of Peter Brock energy
polarisers that I could sell you cheaply...

Of course it works. But they always insist your car has a tuneup at the same

Umm, I'm not the chemist, ask Hammo, but I'd be very surprised if that
would work, I don't think unleaded petrol plus lead chips equals
unleaded petrol plus tetra-ethyl-lead (leaded petrol).

Howeve, I am given to understand that older vehicles that heve been
running on leaded fuel will continue to benefit from the lead that is
said to have been deposited on the valve seats in the past.

I'm not a chemist either, but I put this one on the same shelf as
    Brockie's fuel polariser.

Some of those face creams actually have some scientific research behind
them... but then they tend to be the middle price sensible ones :)
