I've decided that I'm selling the Trumpet.
Shame really, as I love it, but it just isn't getting used.
Trophy 1200, 2003 in Silver, matching top box and panniers. Touring
Snottoiler fitted. 12v Socket and Ram ball fitted for GPS (& optimate
charging), 9800 miles. tyres about 1000 miles old. Located Saffron Walden
    area. Viewing welcome.
Lots of previous paperwork/bills etc. and some history with it.
Couple of little scratches on the tank done prior to me owning it. Great
    condition.
Having chatted to a number of dealers over the weekend, I reckon a fair
price is in the region of 3800 UKP.
So before I fleabay it, or let one of the dealers have it (Which would be a
shame) or I keep it ;o) anybody in the UKRM contingent interested?
email vvvvv works if cleaned up properly.

I was going to say something along those lines, but then I thought, well,
    2003. But you're right.

This seems to be a common issue with used Triumphs, the values of which appear
    to fall like lead zeppelins.

You (and You) are Soooo wrong!

Tog you used to be a mine of useful info, but it seems that the brain is no
longer as good as it once was.

Even the Tosser at Ongar offered me that for it!!

    Wrong again
Rip his arm off, then. He's probably got a buyer lined up for it, who
has no idea of the value of the thing. Or that'd be one of those
magical offers against a new bike sold for full price. Or one of those
offers which mysteriously get reduced when push comes to shove. As a
private sale item, it's worth £3k tops.

Hang on, let's see what used ones fetch on Ebay...

    Hm. Not many.

Item 110242945418, though: 2003 model, full luggage kit, just 3500
miles from new, BIN of £3300, opening bid of £3000, and didn't get a
single bid. Sold off Ebay. I doubt it was sold for more than £3.3k, do
    you?

    180232900138: a 2000 model, 16k miles, struggled up to £1999 and
    failed to sell.

290225882094: a 1998 model - OK, so getting older here - went for
    £1000

    Still for sale:

170214127552: 2003 model, 12k miles, starting bid £2.5k, no takers so
    far.

Like I said, grab that dealer offer, because I can't see any private
buyer, not if he's in full possession of his faculties, paying the
thick end of £4k for yours.

Me, I like the 1200 Trophy as a tourer, despite its faults
(ludicrously thirsty, a bit top heavy, chain drive). But they
depreciate like breeze blocks dropped down a well. I daresay values
are stabilising now they've been out of production for a while.

    Your call.
