    Mostly working.

    For various values of "working".

Erm, I was wondering about this the other day. I was trying to put
together a "cull list" because I've got too many bikes and just haven't
got the space for them, as The Doctor has observed.

    The rationale went like this:

Ducati? Nope. Not for sale. Just not on the agenda. Trophy? Too useful:
it makes the 80-mile daily commute a breeze. CB750? Well, that's got to
be kept at least until after Chimay. OK, 400 Four then? I'll never,
ever get another one that good for that sort of money. It's close to
irreplaceable. CD200: I use that for my running around London, and I
don't fancy trundling into the City or West End on the Trophy. Dax?
Doesn't take up any space anyway. DT50? That's going to be Jamie's.

So right now probably isn't the best time to tell her that I'm aiming
to buy a trio (yes, three) of moribund 400 Fours this weekend......

Anyway, I've only bought a couple of really shit bikes recently: the
Yamaha XS400 and the Honda 500T.

Yes, Having sobered up slightly, I'm tending to agree. I've always quite
fancied a GTR1000. Fortunately this one's far enough away to be more
    hassle that it's worth.

  8. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember TOG@toil,
Count yourself lucky, mate. Bloke I saw this week lives in an ordinary
house in a close with 2 Scimitars outside. In the garage were another 3
and another 3 out the back. There's another 2 or 3 somewhere else too,
    afair.

    He seemed happy, though.

  9. Would that be Mike C, who used to live in Kent? Absolutely lovely bloke, he
was a FOAF and I was disappointed to have lost contact. He had a shed full
of Broughs and bits of Broughs. Mike managed to scam an old Aston DB6
Volante as his company car. He then had it fettled up at the company's
lavish expense, and bought it out at the standard *depreciated* rate over
the 3 years of the contract. Respect is due.

I've met him... looked round his sheds, too.

To say he was a fan of the marque, is an understatement. ;-)

    Bear says...
Think lardier and slower shaft drive ZZR1100.

Considering the fact that Nigel already has a ZZR1100, a GL1000 GoldWing
and a Z1300 Voyager, I don't see where a desire to own something like a
    GTR comes in.

My mate Allun had a collection of 8 or 9 MK2 and S Type Jaguars in a
compound, all ready to have the banger treatment. This was when you
    couldn't give the things away.

You could always extend the garage or build a cheap and cheerful breeze
    block shed.

May I recommend the services of the Konkrete Krew? Fully experienced,
jovial types who'll work like wossnames for a bacon butty.

    Lovely fellows.

  17. Different man. 'My' Mike was a lawyer, and scammed the Aston off the Merkin
bank for which he was working. I think it's too big a career leap to be the
    same one.

  18. Well, if you see him again do please give him my warmest regards; not that
this name will mean anything to him of course. Remind him of a pub crawl
round Kent, with my wife struggling manfully with the Aston's ~150lb clutch
    pressure!! I am a "friend of Cicely's ex-husband".
