  1. Very, *very* unusual is that.

When I had the engine out I did anything I thought it needed. Only done
20something thou so there was no measurable wear except the one fucked
cam bearing (I replaced all 4) and one tensioner blade (replaced). Due
to the blade and bearing I put in a new OEM camchain. The pistons and
bores were unmarked and the mains/smalls were perfect. Due to the
bearing the inlet tappets were scored, it got new ones and two new inlet
valves with a top end lap/clean. I was planning to keep the bike so cost
    wasn't a consideration.

It's going to get new rings after the contaminated petrol incident and
then engine will be back in.

  4. I'd forgotten about that. That was a right bastard - any further
feedback on that front? Are the rings really knackered?

I'm veering towards a sale for cash as I need a bike with a well run in motor
soonish. There's a guy off the GS forum coming weds to view. The price under
    discussion is 2k.

Whatever the outcome, it'd be good to see you anyway Hog.

If you can get that kind of money for your bike then that's a very good
price IMHO (and I'm afraid to say that I wouldn't offer that much -
I've rebuilt crashed bikes before and am acutely aware of how much
    they've cost me).

Fingers crossed. It's not badly damaged, so I think it's about right. In good
order the year and mileage would indicate a price of around 2,750 and I
reckon 250 quid and a bit of work will put it right.

It's good if that works out - I've made this calculation a couple of
time too often though, and with the wrong results :).

If he offers 2k grab it!
I can sell or trade the XS any day of the week.
