FS (probably) my BMW K1100LT

Difficult decision, but since my job relocation I'm just not using it
(and other bikes) as much as before, and I'm contemplating downsizing
    the Chateau's fleet.

The Duke is going to Number One Son. I may flog the K and the Street
Trip and replace them with one brand new single bike (guess what?) or
keep the Trip and replace the K with, er, an older BMW.

Anyway, it’s a 1993 dark blue LT with 40k on the clock. Brilliant
service history, and everything’s been properly done, including the
splines, brake fluid and disc bobbins. It’s been 100% reliable in the
several years and 18,000 miles I’ve had it. Plenty of ukrm-ers have
    seen it in action.

It’s in damn good nick. Some scrapes on the mirror edges (my
clumsiness and that of Twatty on the M25) and the panniers (ditto). It
still wears the proper three-piece colour-matched luggage, although
the right-hand pannier has a different key to the rest following a K/
rubbish truck interface in Dover Port recently. Ahem.

Everything works. Electric screen, ABS, clock, digital gear indicator,
instrument illuminations, you name it. New front brake pads. Will need
an oil service in 2,000 miles or so, and new tyres not long after
that. It’s got 10 months’ T&T. Had a major service courtesy of Brian
Giles 4,000 miles ago, so won’t need another major one for a long
while. I think it’ll need a new battery come winter: it got through
this winter OK, though. Brian’s tagged it as “A good LT” which in
    Brian-speak is high praise.

Useful spares: lots, as I tend to buy them when they come up cheap and
just squirrel them away. So spare screen, a pannier (not colour
matched), pannier locks, headlight, front wheel, front mudguard (wrong
colour), rear disc and pannier inner bags. It’s still got the original
BMW toolkit, plus handbook, and a puncture kit.

It’s a brilliant tourer, still. Economical, too: high-40s mpg average,
mid-40s tonking it, over 50mpg if you keep to 75 and below. Range
170-200 miles, depending. Fabulously comfy solo or two-up, and the
weather protection is probably only beaten by the bike I’m
contemplating as a replacement. Handles OK on smooth roads: definitely
gets a bit bouncy on twisty bumpy back lanes, mind you.

£2000 firm, including everything listed. SW London area.

Be warned I may change my mind...

Curious about what the potential replacement for the LorryTruck might
be. Have you ever owned a K75RS?

  4. Well, I was contemplating Timo's Krauser RS, but decided against t. So
that leaves Plan A. Sell Street Trip and the K and replace with a single
    bike.

It must be something special if you're getting rid of both the Ducati
and a Street Triple to buy it - new Multistrada?

Dunno, but assuming the Street & K fulfill your biking needs, & those
    needs remain, as implied by:
then whatever you get will be one hell of a compromise.

A 'brand new' bike implies it's something you're planning to keep for a
long time, which means you'll take it across the pond. So my guess
would be something vaguely big trailieish to allow some South American
    exploration. GS maybe?
What are you, some kind of gurl?

That crossed my mind too, but might be a liability if the new toy's
    going to Chile.

Give the man a coconut. Multistrada Touring. Strictly speaking, I'm
not selling the 750SS anyway: I'm passing it onto Number One Son.
It'll still be in the family, as it were. But it strikes me that the
MST would nicely combine the functions of a sports bike and something
    capable of covering distance.

One hundred and fifty bhp (or something close to), plus a decent sized
fuel tank, centre stand and panniers.....

Didn't realise the MS had nearly 150bhp.

    <googles>

Over 14k for the sport or touring? Feckin hell.

    Bah - only 10 bhp/k£.

My CB500 scores far higher with a score of 71!

Forget it, your legs will need stretching by about 8 inches. I tried
one a couple of weeks ago and mine were dangling in the breeze by a
good 4 inches each side, and you're stumpier than I am. Mind you, you'd
compress the suspension a **** sight more than I would.

If you're going to play the BHP/quid game then I think SIRPip has all
    beaten.

I fear I may be at t'other end of the scale with 8.2 for the MV. On the
upside, I get a divide by zero error for the Corvette, & you can't beat
    that!

I haven't seen a Black Shadow in decent nick for 14k for a while now. I
badly want Rick Partingtons (sp?) Norvin although I'm not sure I like it
    with the Norton tank details.

Besides, if you exported one to Chile you'd probably find the VoC put a
    contract out on you.

Nor I. I wasn't thinking of paying £14k, but multiples of. *Sigh* But
The Doctor might have words to say. Oh well.

Aha! What, the old RF900? Dyno run printout proved 140bhp for £500
    quid, that's a score of 280.

I dunno if second-hand works, though - seems a bit unfair.
