It is a brilliant bike and is in very good condition.

44,000 miles so just nicely run-in.

    Full details here: http://www.old-bailey.org.uk/zzrsale/index.html

So, I've decided to give the K1200RS another chance. Coopers are useless
bastards so I won't be going there again - for anything.

It was touch and go for a while which I was going to sell but decided I'd
lose more on the BMW if I sold it so soon.

Both bikes have their good points but the ZZR is easily the more fun bike
and has been very reliable. It is ridiculously rapid and, since I've
replaced the brake hoses, stops remarkably well, too.

The BMW is a shafty so that's one less bit of maintenance to worry about but
it has some stupid design faults, like absolutely no storage space, an
unusable oil level window and an oil filler on the side of the engine. The
fairing gives no wind protection to your hands so they freeze in the
winter. The heated grips don't really help with this. You get burnt palms
while the rest of your hands go numb with cold.

But there's still something about the beemer that's right. It's a nice ride
and has a more upright riding position that suits me.

If you fancy a look at the ZZR, email me.

  3. Just as well, 'cos the 1100 you had before wound up in the middle of a
French intersection after being comprehensively outbraked by my Ducati.

Aye, but his probably didn't have electrical faults cutting all power to the
ignition system, 'assisting' with the engine braking...

That was the 1200. Lucky your brakes were better than your memory. :)

  6. 1100, 1200, same thing ;-)

And my memory is better than your reactions. And brakes.....

You don't mention the weight though, that's the item which puts me
right off the new beemers. IIRC 280something kg DRY for the 1200RS.
The ZZR would be something like 230ish?

50Kg/110lbs of IMHO just plain bad engineering.
