So wash it and pitch it for £200 more.

Although I'm highly suspicious, because they didn't make the 'S' back in
    1994.

Sounds like a courier hack to me and couriers *never* wash their bikes

Maybe it's the Givi screen that gives it the 'S' status ;-)

Ok, I got it wrong (After all it's my wife's bike not mine).

It's pretty much the same as the current CBF500 water cooled twin, but with
the cowling below both sides of the petrol tank.

My missus won't be riding it again as she never got back her confidence
after a bad accident three years ago, when she was sideswiped off her BM850
on the M25 near the A20 by an artic. I bought her the 500 to help her ride
again, but it isn't going to happen this year (compounded by a very heavy
workload and we're spending a lot of our time SCUBA diving on the weekends).

Two long scars on her left forearm & two operations later and she'll never
quite have back the strength & mobility she had before.

The only good thing is that with the money from selling the bike she's said
that I can fix the scraped fairing, mirrors & levers on my VFR800.

Please be generous & by our bike.

PS. Anyone know a good source for pattern Mirrors & levers for my bike?.

Depending on what you mean by 'cowling', it sounds like the standard CB500
to me. The only real difference with the current model (AFAIK) is the brakes
(rear drum / front Nissin on the old, rear disk / front Brembo on the new).

FWIW, I bought my 35000mile CB500 (with minor cosmetic damage) for £1000
three years ago - although the going rate for one in good nick at the time
was about £1400. Sounds like £1000 is about right for yours (depending on
    the mileage).
Eek - doubt you get many survivors from a bike / lorry interface.
And don't slag you off to much for top-posting?

  8. I know! I picked up the bindit last night [1] and it needs a good
    scrub.

I doubt it'll get more than a blast with the jet wash though.

    [1] *Many* thanks to Loz!

You what!? It is positively gleaming compared to when I sold it to
    Lozzo.
I've said this before, but Muc-Off. My CBR was approaching Bandit status
in the muck stakes and skeptical as I was, I went and bought some. I
took it up the jet-wash, sprayed some on while I was waiting for matey
in front and just gave it a rinse with the golden wand of joy and it
came up like new - Even the sprocket carrier on the back wheel. To say I
    was amazed is and understatement.
    Indeed.

I had given it a quick wipe down but it really does need a proper
cleaning session. Maybe you should park it outside JP's gaff for a few
    days and see what happens.
My pleasure :) Hope it serves you well.

I remember telling the bloke at FWR that all the crap on the back wheel
was keeping it balanced. IIRC, he put about 2oz of lead on it so if you
get a bad shudder after cleaning the wheels it'll be because of that.
