FS: GPZ Turbo

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by mike. buckley, Sep 11, 2007.

  1. Well I was going to strip and tidy this over this winter, but plans have
changed, so I'm looking to either sell now or in Spring.

Bought a couple of years ago, I've spent quite a bit of cash on this
bike, with really only cosmetics letting it down slightly:

530 chain and sprocket conversion - only done around 1000 miles
    Tank and mudguard resprayed
    NOS left hand side panel
    New front brake pads
    Dynacoils
    Iridium plugs
New rear tyre only 500 miles old
    New screen
    New mirrors
Forks have been rechromed but the seals are leaking, still under
warranty from Philpotts, so need returning for fixing.

Stainless brake hoses fitted, but they're not new
The chromed grabrail in the pic is now a black luggage rack, but I still
    have the grabrail.
Turbo is good, no play in the spindle
Small idle problem, but road running is top notch

    MOT/Tax til Spring

    Looking for around £1300

Done a bit of work since the pics, screen, sidepanel and a bit of paint.

Is there somewhere to mount a chair, and is it good on thick snow?

When the K100RS first came out in 1983 its performance was pretty damn good
    for the day.
The mandatory fork stiffening and suspension upgrade had them handling
    reasonably too.

Though long product lives have significant benefits it must be said that by
the time the 16v 1000cc was launched 10 years later the world had left them
    far behind.

Of course, I'm not suggesting it was a class leader! but it was a decent
bike. The final 1989 RS Ltd with ABS1 was the culmination, a really sorted
machine, but Yamaha launched the 1000EXUP and the rest is history! within a
few weeks I had one with higher bars and full krauser luggage ;o)

For a start I would bet K's crash a lot better than turbo's!

FWIW the K lump is one of the best engines for turbocharging
