They won't thank you for that, sunshine. Two smokes aren't welcome in the land of the free. See above. I reckon the nearest thing you're likely to find to a decrepit, outdated, third world, agricultural old piece of shit, for use in foreign lands is... William Grainger Good. Where are you looking for places? Upper West? When I visited a friend of mine at City University I had a look around the area and it looks habitable even up to the mid 130's. Just don't go close to Washington Heights.
That's as nice as the one you sold me, I think. An' it's got a rev counter! *Must resist* I really liked that little TS150 I bought off you.....
It has three settings 0 = Engine Stopped 1000 - 3000 (randomly variable) = Engine idling 3000 - 8000 (randomly variable) = Engine running but not idling This ones nicer, it was completely rebuilt (inc forks and shocks) before going to Frankfurt and has decent tyres - although I preferred the look of the speedo in the headlamp one that Jon Harris has now.
Not a great deal really - runs 2T at 33:1 (almost a shame to put petrol in) so cheapest Comma does the job. Although it did the Frankfurt run on fully synth. As to maintenance: it needs the timing checked every so often - that's simple points, cheap TDC tool and test light job. Gearbox oil once a year or every 3000 miles. Ermmm, that's it. If the £30 is your train fare I can deliver (I don't pay for trains) just buy me beer.
Accomodation for all three of us is (apparently!) being sorted; no idea if the assumption is for the entire length of my contract or what. Ah, well, here your knowledge of NY's geography is better than mine...
William Grainger says... It's on the east coast near all the tall buildings, a long way from the sunshine and earthquakes. HTH
Upper West, ie. west of Central Park, quite posh. Washington Heights, Really Upper West, ie. north of Central Park, aka Harlem. Not quite so posh. I'd go for TriBeCa by preference.
There's a fair bit of activity in the lower east side to keep an evening going, and I found a couple of decentish bars on Canal and Spring (iirc) - failing that, the west village isn't far away.
