Son is selling his CG125. Just over a months Tax and MOT left. Needs a kick start. Been stood for a couple of months, so a quick service is probably in order. 'C' reg, drum brakes, not too bad condition, but chrome showing slight rust. He is asking £295, is this a reasonable price? Anyone interested? What? Do you mean it has an electric start, but it doesn't work, or that the kick-start lever is missing? Not too far out, apart from the starter problem.
Electric start...I suppose you want ABS as well ;o) Kick start leaver has snapped off, could be welded back on, or a few quid from a scrap yard. I find bikes of that size easier to bump than kick, so not a problem for me, but then I am me. -- AndyH, MIB#15 Suz GSX1100F {) Suz GS550 Katana '82 Black Suz GS550 Katana '84 Silver (in kit form) MZ ETZ125 (and still in bits) CG125 (Son's, but its still in my garage)
AndyH says... New pattern kick-start levers are about 15 quid from any decent small bike shop. CG ones are known for snapping and a couple of companies make replacements.
I couldn't remember whether there was an "improved" CG with an electric start, or whether it was only the superior Suzuki GS125 that provided that convenience. I'm not sure many people would agree. See Lozzo's post, and get it fixed, then it should sell easily at that price, I'd think.
C reg - must be a very early Brazil Nut model, then. Put a new kickstart lever on it and give it a fresh MoT. It'll sell easy.
Why was the electric starter on it's way out? My one's still fine having done nearly 13,000 miles now. Did you have problems starting the thing or something?
Yeh, could be the switch.. sounds like it to me. If you're mechanicly minded, you could take the switch apart and spray it with some contact cleaner then WD40?
Heh... I'd not spotted that you were about to take it to a dealer. I suppose that they're going to fix the starter thingy anyway. The thing with Scott oilers running dry, is that you usually need to re prime when you fill them up again. Or the oil doesn't actually get to the chain.
If you leave it long enough it gets to the chain eventually. and by that time it needs topping up again to stop it happening again. damhik, ijk, ok. -- Adie (replace spam with nickname to reply) UKRM FAQ: http://www.ukrm.net/faq/ Triumph 955iSS / GSF600 bandit MRO#11 BOTAFOF#7 BOTAFOT#130 DIAABTCOD#17 MIB#24 YTC#16 BOB#15 ex-UKRMMA#22
