They're called 'used spares'. It's a concept invented by poor people
who can't afford to get a man in everytime something breaks.

Like I said originally (but you snipped): Caffè Nero is better.

Sure, but you were seeming to imply that the former was acceptable as
coffee, which I would hotly dispute.

Recent trips to North America raise Oxymoron Alerts almost
continuously in hotels and restaurants (or even offices) using the
slogan 'We proudly brew Starbucks cofffee'.

What are you complaining about, exactly? Caffè Nero, or the "girly thing
    with froth and stuff"?

It's not usually /that/ bad. Maybe it depends on the particular
franchise you go to. Or maybe it's because whenever I get one of those
from Starbucks, I get a "grande" (or whatever poncy name they call it)
in my insulated mug that's not as big as the paper cups, so I get the
three shots of espresso but not so much hot water.
Are you surprised, from a country that re-elected Dubya?

I've never had one that was anything better than "mildly unpleasant".
Depends what you're used to, I guess.

Put it this way: anything's better than resorting to the catering-sized
tin of instant muck, graciously provided by the establishment in which I
    work.

Cappucinos are OK on occassion. What I really prefer is an espresso, but
they're so small that it's hardly worth the walk. And even if I can
persuade someone else to go and get it for me, it'd be cold by the time
    it came back.

I didn't realise anyone sipped an espresso appreciatively. I grab one
sometimes on the way to work just for the jolt.

Still hardly seems worth it, unless your office is *right* next to your
coffee shop of choice. The nearest to here is ~150 yards, just a little
    bit too far.
