    For Sale: 2003 Honda Valkyrie

I just cannot afford her right now. 1,000 miles. I have added a
set of National Cycle hard bags ($700) and a Honda Windshield
($600). She is in great condition and ready to be ridden hard.

    See at www.mylinuxisp.com/~mmcguire/

    Asking price: US $12,000.00

No test rides without a check for the full amount so please do not
    bother asking !

    Thanks,

Dang, Lynn - That's a shame! And such a nice bike, too! I'm hoping you
get to a point that you CAN afford her right now - because when you sell
    her... she's gone...

Yeah, I remember just a few months ago(it seems) that you had
just bought the new Valkyrie, and your squirrel/raccoon story
about being attacked while riding. I thought it was a funny tale,
but a little exaggerated regarding uncontrolled wheelies on this
    Valkyrie.

I guess the bike might behave like that if you were running NOS
boost or something, but a stock Valkyrie is in no danger of
launching the front wheel, accidentally or intentionally.

And what's not to afford, other than just puttin' gas in the thing.

They are very thirsty you know....

Not me ! I just repeated the story. The story is from Daniel Meyer
who lives in Dallas, rides his Valk 20,000 miles per year and just got
back from Alaska. See http://lifeisaroad.com/ . See his Alaska
chronicle at http://lifeisaroad.com/alaska.htm . great reading.
I bought the Valk as a toy, thinking that my business was going to
grow about 25% this year. Instead, things are stable (not bad but
my cash is tight). And, I need to buy a car for my daughter. That
$240 per month would allow me to get her a corrola. I financed
the Valk at 6.9% thru Honda finance for 5 years. Got 4 to go.

    Thanks,
    Lynn

I think .. what my friend Gary is saying is, he hates to hear about someone
giving up a damn nice ride.. Should be a lot of people making offers on your
motorcycle.. The Valkyrie is one helluva cruiser..
Good luck on selling your bike.. I hope you get the price you want and
things turn around so that you can get mounted again, before long..

Yeah, I do hate to see you give it up, but you know best.

Sorry, I didn't know/recall the varmint story was second hand.

The Valk is a great ride. Although the bike has many die hard
loyalists, it didn't have large attraction to those intimidated by
the size/weight(real or perceived). And, not willing to just try
    a ride.

I think Honda has made a terrible mistake in losing the Valk,
but I understand economics. Although the Valk was produced
from 1997 to 2003, it seems to have less sight recognition than
a Boss Hoss. Because everyone seems to ask me if it is a Boss
    Hoss?

If it hadda' been a Boss Hoss, it would still be layin' in the same
place where I first dropped it<g>,

    Good luck on your sale.

According to the Valk boards, there were over 50,000 Valks produced
from 1997 to 2003. That is 8,000 per year. Sounds likes a success to
me. I still suspect that there will be a 2006 model but with the current
Goldwing FI 1800 motor. Man, what a blast that would be (over 20
    more hp) !

Well, you have a much better handle on the statistics than do I.

I just assume that because I so infrequently see one on the street,
that they're slim in numbers. I do know of all/most of the sites
where they are the featured topic. And, some of the Sonic bike
nights(Plano:15th & Custer) where they are quite prevalent.

I hope your '06 prediction is correct, if so, I'll trade my '00 in a
heartbeat. As long as it doesn't overheat, or have frame cracks<g>.

Hopefully in just a few days we will know. According to my local dealer,
I have heard that the new Goldwing has an automatic tranny.
Hopefully they do not forget any frame welds <g> !

I doubt that there will be a Valk this year. Maybe a new Rune,
    still at $25K.

Well, I guess my statement should have read:

"I guess the bike might behave like that if you were running NOS
boost or something, but a stock Valkyrie is in no danger of launching the
front wheel. Accidentally or intentionally, unless the rider has
either stolen the bike, or is tremendously destructive". <G>
