what a waste of decent wheels and forks.

Looks like a wannabe Virago from ~83 vintage!

Interesting, it's something I always figured would be worth doing to a
cruiser (decent brakes, forks and sticky rubber) but the front end looks
unbalanced with the small wheel - it almost looks like it's a chopper,
but not quite. The upper fork tubes look longer than stock to me.

Wonder whether he kept the belt or converted to chain

How predictable - seems like evryone has an opinion on Harleys.
Especially ythose that haven`t ridden one - Why is that I wonder?

The upper fork tubes are stock GSX1100 however the lower legs have been
extended 75mm to allow greater cornering clearance.
The original belt drive is retained.

Thats true for many I guess but from my experience they mostly keep their
opinions to themselves, its the sport bike riders that have the most to say
    :p

I rode my neighbours ZX12r 05 yesterday halfway to Coffs on the back road -
well what a machine - indeed it was an exhillerating experience. In top
gear at 120k`s your about 1.5 seconds from gaol if you crack it open. Good
    fun though :))

I've ridden several, I have several opinions on several different Harley
models now... Does that mean I've caught ausmoto multiple personality
disorder :) If you must know... [1][2][3][4]

    G-S

[1] The 883 sportster was nice but it felt strangled, the 1200 sportster
    was much nicer.

[2] The electra glide ultra classic (non FI) was very very nice at 100
to 110 for touring on (I would have liked a bit more grunt for
overtaking, but I expect the FI versions help there).

[3] The EVO Super Glide was nice but the front brakes were a bit weak
and the rear shocks were underdamped, easy enough to live with on the
entry leval 'big' harley considering the price *shrug*

[4] The softail standard was just odd, that rear suspension just doesn't
work properly... they would have been better off with a real hardtail
    (and yes I've ridden hardtails).

Are the majority here sport bike riders?? Maybe I`m in the wrong N/G, I
thought this was aus.motorcycles. Maybe you think you are the majority, but
it may surprise you how many non sport bike riders there are out there.

Would it surprise you to know that 700 more CRUISERS were sold last year in
Australia than Sport Bikes? In fact there were 1500 more SCOOTERS than
    Sport Bikes.
47% of all sales were DIRT BIKES.

What I was alluding to in my previous post was that yes nearly everyone has
an opinion on most motorcycles but the sport bike riders are the most VOCAL
in this regard especially when it comes to Harley Davidsons.

I have ridden Harley Davidsons for over 25 years and have never seriously
put shit on another persons bike whether it is a scooter or a Golwing.
However, I can recall many ocassions, when meeting riders of Jap sport bike
riders for the first time, they would typically say to me " I suppose you
wont ride with me cause your on a harley"
This kind of reverse discrimination is unfortunately the norm.

I consider myself a motorcycle enthusiast and I like all different types of
    motorcycles.(yes even Cossacks)
Respect my choice I say - I respect yours.

    Good day

I don't think it's the Harley riders who give Harleys a bad name
(well, mostly) -- it's the Harley Davidson T-Shirt Owners Club.

Quite fond of the XLCR and its ilk myself ...

Is that the C1? I didn't know they sold them here in Australia.

Did you have to wear a seat belt?

  18. No no, the _other_ "only BMW lemon in existence". Well, _one_ of the
other "only BMW lemons in existence". Actually, _one_ of the many other
"only BMW lemons in existence" from the BMW motorcycle division...

That could be because sports bike riders are more likely to be computer
    nerds.

Or it could just mean that H-D riders already have a life, and don't
    need the 'net.

    snip................

So you're saying that aus.motorcycles contributers are atypical.

Begs the question of what is it about sports bike riders and BMW riders
that makes both groups feel a need to huddle together in cyberspace.
