who wants 19" CRT monitors, though[1]? [1] I have one, and a 21", but I'd really like 2 x 19" TFTs...
You can tell that's not a UKRM thread; there's no-one getting ripped to pieces for their wallpaper, furniture, accessories, etc.
darsy came up with the following;: LOL, ditto, but with an 'old' 17" CRT too .. and I want 20/21" TFT's ..
Slider scribbled: Oh. Pictures. Thought it was a new thread about getting them cheap via an iffy "trade" account :-( Interesting pics of 2 x 20" Dells though. Wonder how the price compares to 1 x 24"? Would be nicer to have two.
In It depends on what you 'do' with your computer. If you have an application like Flash or a music application with horizontal timelines/frames, then the widest-screen monitor is best. If you have to frequently refer to more than one application (for example, as a developer referring to database, code and/or reference files) then two monitors is better because you can maximize two different applications into the workspace. Two monitors also works well if you use terminal services, with your own desktop on one monitor, and a remote desktop on the other. Three monitors is optimal, because the area of screen in front of you doesn't have a line down the middle. I have a two monitor setup at work and home, and I find it far better to place the primary monitor straight in front of me, with the secondary to the side, rather than centering the gap between the two. I got a crick in my neck when the monitors were centered, because my primary focus day-in day-out was off to the left of center.
Slider scribbled: *Ding* Having the ability to spread one desktop over two monitors is nice, but having the ability to have two seperate desktops, app being debugged in one, IDE in the other, is a blessing Costly though. 24" in the middle and 2 x 20", one either side... only £1400 or so Since I have a nice 22" CRT I suppose I could just get one 24"er and use the CRT for the second monitor when I need it.
