How much free play is there at the clutch lever? And, do you have any information in your owner's manual about how to adjust the free pla at that clutch release mechanism you saw? There is an adjustment screw there, according to the CLUTCH parts fiche. It would definitely hel to have the clutch release mechanism and cable adjusted correctly. Typically, you would have about 1/16th of an inch of free play on the cable.
I looked through the book and didn't really see much on how to adjus it, though I know it must be in there. I am used to the haynes an chiltons, so this clymer book is actually a big diffrence, and I thin it sucks. The troubleshooting page is just that...less than half page. The clutch lever itself seems to be good. THe tension is on th lever almost immidiately. It seems ok until you get it about half-wa in and that is where it gets tough. By the time you pull the lever al the way in, it is hard to hold and it barely allows you to roll th bike. I was to adjust the actual (looking for a name here) clutc cable-pushrod actuating mechinism. I figure if I can rip that clutc hub and all out today and make sure everything is loose, I will be goo once I adjust everything. Thanks again guys...any further help or tips are greatly appreciated, Bil
