    "oh shit, I'm a manager".

In fact, my new job title has the word "manager" in it.

darsy bored us all completely to death with wittery prose along the
    lines of:
Heh, so does mine. Not that it means shite. (Yours may be slightly
    different)

    AOL.

I don't really "do" job titles: not on my card, not on my email .sig,
not when willy-waving at a meeting.

Trouble is, the yanks *love* it - even if they have a fairly poxy
title. They particularly love having it in their email "from:" field.
    What's with that?

I don't have a business card at the moment - I very rarely deal with
external clients, and I expect external /suppliers/ to fucking
remember my name and contact details.
that's wanky. I only ever tend to use my full title and contact
details in the external emails, as it's company policy.

  11. I am apparently a Business Manager by grade and I have manager in my job
title. It is of no importance to me at all.

Yes, it doubles as the oil light. When that comes on the engine has
seized. I think that's enough of a limiter.

I used one of the latter ones once. It didn't look right *at all*.
After the third try of getting it to look good, I just did the job
quick smart and never used one again.

new title is "Global Enterprise Technologies Manager", which despite
sounding fairly pompous is actually reasonably accurate.

Come on though, since when has Flash been an enterprise technology ;-)

    Congrats, btw.

I've got another interview with another bit of Accenture on Friday, so with
a bit of luck, I might have 2 jobs there .. er

That's a little uncharitable, perhaps. It may be true in some cases,
but it is really egotistical to put your job title in your "from:"
field if you have a shitty job title? I can understand it if it was a
    pos job title.

I think it's a cultural thing, more than anything.

I can't understand it in either case. Sure, have it in your corporate
sig, but in the from: field? Surely it makes incoming mail from those
    people look like 419ers

from: John-Joe Haymaker III - Inter-office refuse disposal operative
    (Grade 3)

    etc.

heh - I've never written a line of Actionscript in my life.

Anyway, what did I tell you before? Yeah, all those curly-bracket
languages are pretty much the same.
I take it that means lunch/shuttle exchange is off for this week?

Are you around at the weekend? Porl was talking about a
rideout/pre-race-season discussion on Saturday (and it'd be the
    afternoon that suits me...)

  20. Badly phrased. I meant that I agree that it is egotistical if you
have a pos job title. But to put a neg job title in your from: field
    is just hilariously hom.
You've got me thinking of amending my from: field now.
