    Mr. Fantastic :
Righthanded people who use the mouse on the other side tend to do that,
left handed people tend not to.

I occasionally come across people with that setup on their PCs. It's
    not hard to adapt to.

  6. Damn clickies[1]

    Phil.

[1] Word of Plymothian origin[2] meaning "a left handed
person". Often used as an insult.
[2] Although it could just be a family word
from Cheryls past. Who knows? Who cares?

  7. Pah! I got used to to at Motrot where they wouldn't concieve of
buying left-handed meeces or keyboards. So anyone who was
so afflicted would do as you do.

So does my Dad - but thats cos he can't use his right hand for fine
work cos of Parkinsons and so has to use the mouse with his left.

This is all well and good, but can you wank equally well with either
    hand?

    (martin) spouted the following in
The foot brake pedal on Guzzis applies the rear disc and one of the
    front discs.

I think Honda tried it with one of their bikes and maybe the Kwak
    GTR1000 as well.

SWK will be along shortly to tellme I'm wrong;-)

  10. They went left-foot shift in the mid-1970s, yes.
    Laverdas and Morinis, yes.

Some Suzuki GT twins had a shaft that went straight through both engine
cases so could easily be converted to right-foot-shift if required.

70's rear drum braked Guzzis (850T was the last, I think) had the option
    of gear/brake on either side.

But what about the brake? presumably drum rear so a real job to
convert that as well. Was that not why all Nortons/Triumphs went all
rear disc after the change over? Presumably there has been a
Continental and British standard config going back to the year dot so
the difference must be something to do with the side of the road they
drove on? It made more sense for me whenn I rode a bike to have both
brakes on one side, felt very unsafe on the only RH gear shift bike I
    ever rode.

Can't see the difference being due to which side of the road we drive on
as Italian bikes had the same set up as Brit bikes, yet we don't drive on
    the same side.

I think your disquiet with a right foot change is more to do with
unfamiliarity rather than any "better to have brakes on one side " type
    thing.

I managed to run both RH and LH gearchange machines, once I'd overcome
the initial unfamiliarity I was comfortable with both set-ups. To the
point I could hop off one machine onto another and adjust my braking
technique without even thinking about it.

I saw an old Morini 3 1/2 yesterday, not only are the gear
change/brake _British_ config but the chain takes off the other side,
no way that could be configured otherwise. What about the new
Triumphs? any potential for swapping over on these?

  17. Not without a lot of very expensive engineering.

That said, the NABD has a lot of experience in this field.

martin was seen penning the following ode to ... whatever:
You'll be surprised, but they were actually available with lhs
gearchange as well, at least the later model. Mainly sold to the
    'mericans.
