Just got back from the Friedrichshafen Bike Show. Summary in bullet points: -Most HDs make your back hurt from sitting on them. -The HD V-Rod is actually ok to sit on, if you like low and shiny. -www.hollisters.de make impressice customs for the chrome fetishists. For hard core loadsacash poserdom, HDs look positively lame. -The Rocket III makes you smile manically just sitting on it. Want but can't afford. -It also has a lighter clutch than the CBF600 (although this might be a show-thing) -I want a Speed Tripple, and I could actually *just* afford one on finance. When I have all the diving kit I want, that's the next on the list. -I also want a R1200GS - most comfortable bike I sat on, pitty about the price. More comfortable than the Tripple, and arguably the better choice for touring. Guess I'll just have to start robbing banks. -The Valkyrie Rune is shinier than any bike has any right to be, but fuck me, the price tag! Not my style, though. -Ogri is available, translated, in Germany. And actually still quite good. -There is an Ace Cafe clone. -The CBFs from Honda are nice little machines, but feel tiny compared to Rocket III / Tripple / RGS. -Didn't realise how nice the ZRX1200 is. -The Z750 is nice, but feels to small for me. -Some people actually turned up on bikes, even though it was -12°C this morning, rising to just about -3°C in the afternoon. Free entry if you turn up on a bike might have something to do with this... -The German bike scene seems to be mainly BMWs and Custom / Cruisers. -Impressive number of back patch clubs present. -Nice totty on the Hollisters stand, but that's about it. Was well worth the 5 quid entry fee :) Johannes
