Double hmm, okay that sort of "local knowledge" changes it slightly -
if it's known to be slippy in the wet then possibly not the best thing
    to try out.
Just need a bit of sun, I'm sure it can't rain ALL the time ;-)

You _sure_ you're close to the town centre? Only I looked at the
location according to the hotel website and it's miles out of town.

Yeah. I know. I was there last year. If it's any consolation, it's a
    lovely carpark.

If it's still tipping down on Saturday, then after I've got over Friday
night's hangover, I'm going to take a taxi into town and get pissed for
the rest of the day. Oh, and I suppose I've got to hit a supermarket at
    some point.

  5. That's a good point. All the rubber and dripped oil laid down on the
bends over the years will make some corners quite dodgy when moist.
I noticed that on a Sabine vid taken in the wet, she definitely wasn't
    going at her usual pace.

There's the big water wheel at Laxey, the steam train, the electric
train, er, Peel Castle, um, <gets scrapbook> Castle Rushen, Isle of
Man Rest Home for Old horses, Glen Maye, and other stuff, too.

Just noticed on the last page: "We are definitley going again next
    year".

That'll be 1984, then. IIRC we went to France, instead.

There certainly is. Narrow gauge (is that the correct term) line from
Douglas to Port Erin. The choo-choo enthusiasts I was with at the Manx
last year did it while I had a pissing wet ride round the circuit (fog
and low cloud over the mountain) in the VMCC reliability run.

Apparently a lot of the permanent way was replaced not that long ago.
This makes for a less idiosyncratic joggly ride. They still enjoyed it
despite having done it several times in the pasy (as did I a few years
    ago).

I can recommend the House of Mannanan at Peel for a day not too bad to
ride over there, but not good enough for racing. It has won awards. A
really good interactive museum (well I liked it). You can also see
Odin's Raven (replica Viking longship) next to it. Also Peel castle, and
don't miss the wonderful Davisons home made ice cream shop on Peel prom.
More flavours than you can shake a stick at.

This weekend we went to the BMF show, we camped over on Saturday night.
I took the Bandit and put the tent and sleep-roll on the rack and a
large Nike holdall containing a sleeping bag, clothes, trainers, wash-
kit and towel on the pillion seat. I borrowed Pip's Baglux tank bag and
used that to hold stuff like camera, wallet, baccy pouch etc. All this
was held on with 3 bungees and a cargo net and nothing budged an inch.

I don't think I'd need any more luggage than that to do a week away
because I had plenty of room left in the holdall for more clothes and
the Baglux bag wasn't anywhere near full.
