French Run update

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by The Older Gentleman, Jul 10, 2005.

  1. It's proving impossible to sort out a three-nighter, so it's back to a
two-nighter. One night within 200 miles of Calais. Second night nearer
    to home - probably Chepy.

Option of second night only (that's the Saturday) for people who simply
    can't make two nights.

    Heh, **** :)

You know I've booked off <toddles off to check> 5th August to 17th
August. If it happens ten, then cool, but bear in mind I have the
    awesome Cornwall run then, too.

Next year, or at least when I've got a passport I'll be glad to come
along with you bunch of reprobates.

I've been threatening myself with a French run for a long time and I
    think the time is now.

    Or you might.
    Any rate...the others will I'm sure ;o)

If it's max 200 miles from Calais [1], why not just save the bother of
organising 2 hotels etc and just do both nights in the same place? The idea
of a stop neaer Calais was because your original plan was 400 miles from
    Calais.

[1] Loads of french runs are about that distance. Last one was, Epernay one
    was too.

  9. I thought about that. This way there'll be some fun riding in the
interim, and there are quite a few people who simply don't have the time
to do an early start on Saturday, pile 200 miles, scoff dinner, get
three hours' kip and pile 200 miles back.

    We'll see, anyway.

true but there are also those of use who like not having to do much on
the saturday too. a bimble without luggage (and yes I know the amount
I take isn't huge) but its still a PITA.

I'd be quite keen on both nights being closer to Calais as I can really
on make it for one of the nights (the Friday)... looks like I need my
    own personal itinerary :(
