  1. Hoho![/QUOTE]

And when are we going to see you on a French Run? We need someone else
to take the piss out of besides Prawn.

    Oh, that reminds me:

Saturday lunchtime, sitting down to lunch in Chimay with Coline & Pat
Irvine. Lovely hot day, sitting outside, necking an ice-cold Chimay
beer, and the world's greatest omelettes avec frites arrive.

Colin, indistinctly, though a mouthful of frites: "Ah, you can tell
you're in France just from the chips."

Me: "You're in Belgium, you thick ****...."

Friday morning, Clackett Lane services. Brothers Batey, myself, Ogden and
Zymurgy all head off and ride into petrol station. Gloves off, engine off,
reach over and put nozzle in tank. Others all doing the same. Cue Zymurgy
who rides up next to me, leans over and says: "So, we stopping for fuel
    then, or what?"

TOG, you might want to sort the room-shares so that BGN and Prawn are

Are you suggesting TOG should have a hand in this?

Didn't DNC's bandit throw a wobbly last year too?

Gutted I couldn't come, but as you lot know I was busy
elsewhere! Will see if I can get out on the next one as
I need a good night's sleep and some cheap French booze.

I'd like to make it absolutely clear that this had nothing whatsoever to do
    with me.

Excellent trip, my first foray onto foreign soil on any bike and my
first ukrm meet. And what a nice bunch of people every last one of them.

Thanks to Ian & Kate & Neil R for my "induction course", still have a
little to learn after being "abandoned" in Reims... if I'd run that red
I wouldn't have lost them... lesson learned: keep up in town.

Thanks also to TOG for determining that my chain was a little tight (0mm
free play) and dry as a bone and immediately stepping in and adjusting
it for me - well played and I owe you one. Lesson learned: don't trust
the bike shop to actually do what you paid them to do with blind faith.

Best bit: the run up to Chimay on Saturday.

Worst bit: putting zipping up the tailpack in Reims after checking the
map and being parked on the sidestand on a camber and hence the bike
being a little more upright than it usally would be on its side stand
but not for long as it fell away from in slow motion to the ground. The
thing was now lying "beyond" horizontal owing to the canber and I just
couldn't shift it. I slipped into top gear in French language: "Aidez
moi?" combined with a generally helpless look. Bike upright I then
surpassed myself with a "Merci beaucoup".. damage to bike - snapped
front brake lever (still enough to operate the brake though thankfully
as I was still 200 miles from Calais on a bank holiday weekend in
France) and scraptchs to fairing and mirror. Lesson learned: don't be so
    bloody careless.

Actually, "worst bit" is incorrectly used here: it was the only negative
    thing in a brilliant weekend.

    Cheers!

Thanks again TOG and thanks to Dodger for showing us how efficient GPS can
    be (not).
    See y'all in Snetterton.
