French Run report

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by The Older Gentleman, May 1, 2005.

  1. I think I'm first back. Great time had by all, only brakdown was DNC's
1200 bandit which spat its chain, taking out the clutch pushrod and
which was, amazingly, repaired by a French bike shop, so he was only a
    few hours late.

Lots of booze, lots of rides on other people's bikes (I likes ZX12Rs, I
does), and I'll let others add their own comments....

    Bah. Beaten by 7 minutes.

All I'm going to say, other than "if that fucker falls off its stand
one more time I'm going to cry", is...

    Paging Prawn.

Ho yuss. Another great weekend, in excellent company.

The "Four Countries Before Dinner" run was a great success, thanks to
    all involved.

Sign me up for the autumn one!

    With added chicory. Bleeurgh.
    I learned three things yesterday:

    1. when following a GSXR1000, if the rider doesn't brake for a bend,
don't take this to mean that you don't have to.

    2. Germany shuts on a Saturday.

    3. Erm .... BANG! :)

GL1500s do spanking KSBs in tunnels.
    And outside Luxembourg Post Offices.
    Not many.

Yeah, I wonder where they got it?
Mm-hmm. Mind you, it at least gives you the chance to see the novel
sight of Monz with both wheels on the deck.
They'd all fucked off to Luxembourg for the cheap petrol and fags.
They do, they do, they do. It's the 3' green flame and huge cloud of
smoke that's the most impressive though. Fucking fuel injection, I was
    *well* jealous.

Oh, not at all. I was referring to, well, all the hairpins with really
shitty surfaces. There must have been hundreds of the fuckers!

The one you're talking about, you cocked up in exactly the same way
as I'd cocked one up about twenty minutes before, and certainly not
as badly as the bend where I ended up in the gravel looking down a
    ravine.

Christ yes, I was really, really hoping you'd be on this one.

    It's your round.

    so does I..

and I'll let others add their own comments....

Good start to the holiday as the ferry that was already late, was
further delayed by someone being very inconsiderate and falling down
dead at the bar. After a few people had stepped over him, they thought
it might be a good idea to close the bar, and lock us all in while
    they sorted him out.

Typical ukrm- get locked in a bar that isn't serving.

oh and thanks to Dr DNC et al for sorting out my sunstroke.
