You obvously don't understand the idea of making massive cutbacks /
sacrifices to buy something you _really_ want.

If someone _really_ wants a brand new R1 and is willing to make cutbacks
elsewhere (to the point of being totally skint), then respect is due,
'cos it's way more self control than I'd have.

IMHO self control would be making the cut backs, saving up for
    something, then paying cash.

But I'm old fashioned and have an almost irrational dislike of credit.

Sure I do. Except when I want something, the sacrifice I would make is not
to get it until I could afford it. Now that is real self control.

The difference being that you just bill some poor **** at an
extortionate rate for a few hours work if you want something.

Well, if they're used to (effectively) getting everything else for half
the price how do you think they'd feel?

    Tch!

S'wot I have nearly always done. Only ever bought two bikes on finance
and never bought a car that way. I've had a couple of brand new bikes
and one car over the years too. It takes amazing self control,
especially when you're supporting one family and still paying
    maintenance on your eldest child.

What I like is the feeling that all my vehicles and everything I posess
is mine, with nothing owed to anyone.

Why not, he spent long enough studying for his qualifications and
working his way into the position he's in. He fucking deserves it imo.

What you describe sounds like rank stupidity so I think something is

I'm quite fond of credit. It's debt I don't like.

I've no clue what you earn, Kiran, and tbh couldn't care less. But I'd
suggest that it really doesn't fucking matter *how* much one earns.

The more one earns, the more one wants[1]. And it'll always be
something that's *just* out of one's grasp unless one does 'serious'
saving (i.e. concerted saving for close to a year) or one take out
significant (as a propotion of earnings) debt.

Just the ZRX for me, but only because kawasaki were doing a promotional
0% offer over 2 years and it really didn't alter the cost.

I could pay it off now, but I'll let the last 2 months run as it's not
costing me any more to do so.

Well I'll AOL that sentiment. I've always been paranoid about debt.
