    For two earners.
Even a Bandit will do 100 miles on a tenner. If you're 400 miles from
Dover, you're in Glasgow. I reckon 50 quid both ways, per bike
    For two earners.

Tell you what, let's do the sums for 20 people - that'll make it look
    really expensive.

  3. But they're norvern munkeys and therefore poor. Still reckon £250 per
head is an over estimation of the costs

What's Milton Keynes got to do with anything? They live in Harrogate.

its not just the bike, its several other events that are about to suck an
awful lot of money - culminating in the sale of my older R1, and us having
    just the one bike.

And as it would cost £111 each, the fuel for both, food for us both, we're
looking at around £500 all is for the pair of us, and some people better off
will have no trouble with that. But with other things now taking priority,
we've had to cancel a coupla holidays. But on the upside, we'll have the
    new R1.

Nope, I own a business thats only just beginning to start paying me. I've
not even earnt enough to pay tax this financial year.

We get around 100 miles to a tank, 110 if we're just cruising. And they
both take around £12 to fill up. More if stopping on the motorway.
    See above, only one earner.

Thats why I'm not picking up the new bike until April, with the finance
payments not starting until mid May, which I can pay using cashback on
credit card until I start getting paid at the end of May/June. By which
time we may be selling the older R1 anyway.
And there are other personal expenses that were unforseen.

Not really. If you look at all the costs, and Pauls crash helmet is prety
much shagged and I'd feel happier spending a couple of hundred on a new one.
Which also means, more epxense but a possible life-saving one.....or a
    holiday.

Which is why we've had to pull out - all the up-front expenses of moving
house have left us looking a bit broke until we actually complete the
move. Not to mention all the expenses I shell out each week and have to
    claim back later.

I was taking issue with SteveH's comment that these trips turn into £500
    getaways.

    Ahh, I see.

Steve is in Wales now though, and thankfully it costs him money to cross
    the Severn Bridge.

Nah - we let people out for free. But being a discerning nation, we
charge to let you in ;-)

Yeah, but you're a girlie lightweight with the beer, and only have to
    pay for your own trip.

Last one cost me over £100 in fuel, another £50 / night in drinks (at
least, I lost count), plus £50-ish in food.

So, that's £200 for the trip, £100 for petrol, £150 for drinks and £50
    for food.

So, that's about £500 for the 2 of us.

  19. It did strike me as odd when I went to Dale last year, you'd think
they'd catch on that there's more chance of folks paying to get out of
    Wales

  20. Not on a bike. Although the price of the Nuit St-George 1er Cru needs to be
    factored in...
