That beige swatch would have annoyed me.

We get on reasonably well now you know. [1] It's just his **** witted
parenting and assumption he can still tell me what is and isn't
suitable for me that drives me bananas.

[1] We spend time chatting when he's here, swap books, music, DVDs. Oh
and one for Timo and the other graphic novel/comic fans (or anyone
interested in the history of the North East or Lewis Carroll) if
they're still reading - Bryan Talbot - Alice in Sunderland

I didn't and still don't. Bot my kid's mums do a fantastic job given the
raw materials they have to work with.

You know those times when the parents go 'you have no idea what you
are talking about you haven't got kids'?

    This is one of them.
    I'm perfectly capable you know.
    Heh.

My friend Ana was down from Scotland this week and when she came round
I had the heating on full blast and was wrapped in a shawl with the
    cats curled up on me.

And I suspect that most parents don't even use the noun as a verb, let
alone argue, or even think, about it.

    *sigh*

You know, sometimes I could get quite irritated at this sort of thing.

I would expect that in most marriages there is a large amount of stress
over the way that the children are disciplined, what they're allowed to
do etc. etc. Sure there are some utterly shit parents who absent
themselves from their responsibilities but the majority of us are doing
our best. It's really not easy and you know what, when it comes down to
it there's really no one you can turn to for help and advice because of
    fear:
    - Fear of being exposed as a bad parent
    - Fear of being exposed to the social services
    - Fear of the judgement of your childrens' teachers (and more
importantly the impact this has on your children)
    - Fear of the judgement of other parents.

Parenting my children is one of the hardest things I've had to do in my
life, and you know what? I doubt anyone who isn't a parent has any idea
of the level of stress carried around this- additional stress on top of
the day-to-day work and life stuff.

Hey, I've got a hair trigger...
Actually parents *know* how much they underestimated it so they can
approximate how much others may be underestimating... and why you didn't
have kids, I'd have hazarded a guess at having too much foresight.

I don't think it's that hard to get it right.
It's patently easy to get it completely wrong.

It is something you can forward plan quite comprehensively. I did, it works.
In large part because he is happy, content, has self respect and confidence

Did we ever establish what the complex was about or was it just a
