French run loan bike

  1. Just saying, as someone *always* manages to bin their bike, have it
break down, or take it to bits and forget how to put it back together
    again....

If anyone finds themselves stumped for transport at the last minute, The
Chateau can provide wheels. Might be only a Honda 250 (worst case) but
even that will get you there in reasonable time.

  2. It's funny you should mention this, as the way things are going with
the farce that is getting my Bandit fixed, I may have to take up the
    offer of this spare bike.

At the very least it'll be rusted to **** by the time it comes back,
as I know for a fact that P&H in Crawley leave almost all the bikes in
their care which aren't for sale in an open-air compound at the rear
of their premises. And I bet they won't even clean the thing.

Which begs the question: WTF did you give it to them?

  4. 'Swot I was wondering. Well, if Sean needs it... Still plenty of time to
    get the Bandit sorted, though.

    On Fri, 16 Feb 2007 14:25:54 +0000,
The last time I spoke to Sean the dealer hadn't bothered to arrange a
quote for him, insisting that the ins co sent an assessor around
before they did it. Sounds arse about face to me especially as Sean
asked them to do a quote.

IIRC they wanted to declare his new bandit a write off because it had
a scratch on the exhaust and bent handlebars. Make of that what you
    will...

    BGN says...
If they haven't got their finger out by now I'd be telling the dealer to
stick his non-existent quote up his arse and taking the bike somewhere
else. I'd also be giving someone at the insurance company a case of
    tinitus.

His insurance comapny are the Suzuki "free insurance with this new
bike" company. I've never had any dealings with them, but they don't
appear to be all that helpful.

As Sean couldn't get through to them at the side of the road to
recover his bike (they wouldn't answer the phone) he had to pay for
his own recovery home, then use some kind of Suzuki service voucher to
get the bike recovered from his home to the motorcycle shoppe.

The shop don't appear to be all that good, in my humble opinion. I'm
using my experience of Alford Brothers in Folkestone here, who were
excellent. Phoned Carole Nash, explained situation, they said take it
to wherever I trusted most, phoned up Alford Bros. who picked the bike
up the same day. Quote done day after, they faxed quote to my ins co
and the third party ins co, repaired sharpish and I picked it up from
their showroom myself, but if I'd wanted them to delivery it I'm
    certain they would have done.

Sean appears to have the rather unfortunate conbination of a shit ins
    co and a shit garage.

If it had been me I'd be actively persuing a fix, but I think Sean
doesn't want to think about it, so it'll plod along until something
    happens.
