You could always book and overnight in the UK if you need to.

AHA ! The Carrot is revealed!
Sounds a bit like Wacky Races at the moment. Hammering along isn't a lot of
    fun, especially for pillions.

The 3 day event idea may be more managable physically for many although a
bit more money it would probably make it more enjoyable. Particularily if
    there are any breakdowns

  3. I'll work on it.

The only extra cost would be one night in a hotel - say about ukp35,
    minus booze.

    Good plan, Bruce.

OK, who fancies a three-day event?

    Out Thursday, back Sunday?

Which means you will need two days off work.

  4. Out Thursday, Thursday and Friday in the Nice Hotel Wiv Swimming Pool,
and then I could book the Saturday night nearer to the Channel ports,
    making for an easier return.

    Comments?

Obviously it means an extra day off work, and some people may not be
    able to make it.

Could be a bit off-putting for Sarah, so I may go on the Z200 if she's not
    up for it.

    On Fri, 24 Jun 2005 21:48:49 +0100,
Is this how you're looking at it?

    Thursday morning: UK - France
Thursday afternoon: [stop off for lunch... Paris?]
Thursday night: Late afternoon checkin, hotel with Swimming Pool

Friday morning: Still utterly, utterly pissed
    Friday afternoon: *tsk* Still drunk
    Friday evening: Fall over backwards
Friday night: Hotel with Swimming Pool

Saturday morning: Check out of hotel
Saturday afternoon: [stop off for afternoon lunch... somewhere]
    Saturday evening: Shoplifting
Saturday night: Overnight northern France/break out of jail

    Sunday: France - UK.

That sounds far okay. One may wish to have a stop off half way as
    according to the AA's european hoon planner it's a 605Kb & 5 hour 23
minute journey from Calais to Beaune. If it was an early morning
ferry one could always stop off for lunch & a walk around Gé Paris,
    perhaps?

    *sob*

Absolutely no can do, the cage has recently cost me a bleddy fortune to
get fixed [1] and I'll still be in debt to my Mum come Christmas (

Of course, should I be lucky enough to win the lottery..

[1] I had one problem with it, someone who supposedly had a clue
supposedly fixed it. Except they didn't. Imagine cams with at least
1/2 inch missing, and not so nice swarf going around your engine. Oh
    joy.

I did look at the option of scrapping the car (it's a fecking R reg,
FFS!) but anything within my current price range was twice the mileage.
So I opted for having the repairs done, but ged knows how long it's
    going to last now anyway.

I'm in. Provided I can do my usual thing and get a single room.

And I don't mind whether it's Thursday or Friday set off.

Which part of 'absolutely no can do' are you having difficulty with?

Should I manage to win loadsa money on the lottery I will inform dear
TOG otherwise, and should it be nearer to the time I'm sure I'll be
able to hire my own private plane or summat to get there )

    Oh ged, that reminds me..MGP

  16. OK, this is going to be the plan.

Three-day event, as discussed. Thursday morning depart, back Sunday
    afternoon.

Thursday and Friday nights in Beaune. Saturday night, probably, in
Chepy, near Abbeville, and a previous venue, so 80 miles from Calais.

There will also be a one-night option for those who can't make the full
monty, as it were, which will be the one night in Chepy.

That's within easy reach of even the Norvern Monkeys, and for the
benefit of the skinter, means only one night's hotel bill.

  17. An hour to get into town, an hour's stroll checking the talent, and an
    hour to get out.

See you three hours late for dinner then (but you may have a smile on
    your face)?
