French run and driving license

The wonderfully efficient Northants police managed to send out a NIP
within 4 days of the offence, but have so far taken 3 weeks to process
    my license.

If I don't get it back before the French run, what's the likely outcome
of not being able to produce it if asked by the French plod?

I suppose it's my fault as I had forgotten to change the address on it
when we moved last year...... probably means they'll try and stick
something on me for that as well.

    Arse!

Dont you have a 'spare'/photocopy of it?

    Failing that, don't get stopped.

Not a bad idea, that one.
Still waiting to see if Northants Plod stick one on me for failure to
    change my address, though. Argh!

Don't speed, don't be a fuckwit and if TOG gets stopped[1] then keep
    going.
Doubt it, mine has had my name spelt wrong for the last 15 years.

    [1] He usually does.

  6. a) you won't be stopped, b) if you are, they'll see your registration
number and will wave you on (cf. blvd Henri IV), c) the cop will try to
speak English for thirty seconds, give up and wave you on.

_In extemremis_, call my mobile [1], and hand the phone over to the
plodperson in question, and I'll explain it to him.

[1] number changed a few weeks ago; I'll e-mail it to you after this

My licence is a bit other: still my old address with the new one
scribbled over the top of it. Sent it off for the last speeding nick in
similar order and they didn't blink. I *may* have taken it to France
with me once, but I wouldn't swear to it.

I was stopped and happened to have the manky envelope I kept my then
vehicle logbooks, insurance and the like in. Quite proudly I spread the
documents out, after sorting bike from car etc..

Plod was underwhelmed by the fact every logbook, insurance certificate
and my licence had totally different addresses. An exasperated ticking
    off ensued.

That was about 16 years ago though.

  15. Bwaaaaahahahahaaaaaaaaa !!!!!!

I'm getting this wonderful image of Bear standing at the side of the road,
next to a French CRS, telling him, 'It's OK, mate, the licence enquiry
line'll tell you I'm kosher !!' ... and French plod sort of shrugging his
shoulders and saying, 'Mais il n'a pas compris que je ne parle pas un mot
    d'anglais, ce crétin ??'

    LOL !!!

That one'll keep me warm at night this winter ...

    *guffaw!!*

Years ago a bloke I used to know had an accident when pissed
(driving a car, hit another no major injuries).

Fortunately for him he had the accident opposite a pub and
went straight in and starting drinking heavely. By the time
the police showed up he'd downed several large whiskeys.

They *knew* he was pissed and couldn't prove it. They did
him for leaving the scene. I *think* he got banned. Not
sure though, it was too long ago.

Oh, well yes. But this was in the days when the public
perception was that drink driving was less of an offence
    than speeding is now.

    Happy Days.
