    Same location, different role.

Went from a lot of uncertainty about contract renewal to a completely
out of the blue offer from the head of dept, in a very interesting new
    direction.

"I have no fucking clue. Couldn't understand a word he said. Let's see
if he shows up on Monday".

    Congrats, BTW.

I wish to complain. I deliberately didn't post a reply here, to save
you cluttering up a thread. Nor did I request one to my email and yet
you still felt it necessary to use precious electrons to acknowledge
the email for which I did not require an acknowledgement.

I demand to be unacknowledged (but still on the list)

    Regretting that DFV yet?

I don't recognise that as a legitimate demand.
    Not at all.

    No.

    Not yet.

    I'll let you know.

I'm going to try and work it so we're at our place for a few days before
and after - it's about 200km West of the hotel (< 1 hr West of Caen)

If anyone wants to stay before/after then reply here. Depending on the
level of interest we could put on a nice barbeque or summat.

are you favouring any particular Channel crossing now? BF appears to have
opened more routes and LDLines has a larger boat. Has this extra capacity
reduced prices at all or is it just being driven by the punitive fuel cost
of driving from Calais to Normandy/Brittany?

We use Brittany ferries Portsmouth/Caen or Cherbourg whenever we can,
haven't used LD in quite a long time now. Both seem much of a muchness
on price and we prefer Brittany's boats - the three hour high speed one
if possible[2]. Using LD Le Harv is just that bit further away for us on
    a toll road.

We join the property owners club and get a discount on the fares[1],
also try to use some of their cheapie 24/48 hour offers when they come
up[3]. Still punitive prices for the summer holidays mind, the gits.

[1]eligible for others to use - just ping me.
    [2]only had the one rock-n-roll-puke-o-crossing
