Because, at the last count, we had something like 36 rooms demanded
and the hotel in Maubeuge has only got 30 rooms, it looks like it'll
be somewhere else. Two choices atm: one on the Belgian border, which
would mean a nice run to Bruges would be on the cards for Saturday,
and one on the coast: another seaside weekend.

    Stay tuned.

Hmm, I might be interested if that's the case.

I thought the Mauberge place was a bit shit, with it's luminous pink
    room, and rickety bed.

    Near the Belgian border, please.
So we don't get a say in the matter, then?

Only if I can sneak back to The Chocolate Line in Bruges and take back
some goodies for SWMBO, I'll earn enough Brownie points to last a
    lifetime.

    Basically, no :)

As ever, the real problem is trying to find a hotel that has enough
rooms for us all, especially with the demand for single rooms. Very
few French provincial hotels can sleep more than 40 people. Right now,
the seaside venue may/may not have the space, whereas the one near
Belgium definitely does, so that's where it's looking.

And Bruges is well worth a visit. Chocolate shops. Beer shops. Chips.

    Aw, bugger.
    Oops. Sorry!
    Ah, good, good.
Yes, I was there in July. I have unfinished business at the bar just
off the main square that does 400 different beers.

More important, I would have thought, to allow TOG to try and find
somewhere that has room for everyone that wants to come.

I would prefer the seaside, I go to Brugges often, oh yes, it's *very*
    expensive.
As it happens I'm off there this weekend, a chance to try out my new HG
gortex kit,do you want a report on any possible hotels?
If so, let me know any I'll gladly look them over.

Sorry, misread your OP, thought you meant a hotel in Brugges.
I know it's not's not an easy job to find somewhere, checking out still

The French bikers use "campings" with "bungalows". And since these are
for 4 people (or very expensive alone) you get a lot less demand for
    single accommodation :)
