Is it true that motorcyclists are required by French law to carry a spare
set of bulbs and a medical kit?
I keep hearing conflicting opinions on the subject.

If you drve a bit further to the south, Catalan police is requiring a spare
set of bulbs. Failure to have it is fined with 150 euros. They go to some
fine twisty area (say Lloret-Tossa) stop everybody and start collecting
    money :-(

Newboy bored us all completely to death with wittery prose along the
    lines of:
Lightbulbs I believe that this is the case, but first aid kits, I don't
think so. I'm not even sure that cages in France are obliged to have
first aid kits. Mind you, I've never been asked to show them whenever
    I've been stopped.

Mind you, cages are obliged to have a warning triangle and in Spain,
you officially need two (not so Domhnec?), but tourists get away with
    one.

    No they're not.
I know that cars are supposed to have a set of bulbs, but I've never
heard this about bikes. I mean, where would you put them all, FFS?

That said, I do carry a spare headlamp bulb around (wedged next to the
toolkit, the duct tape, the chain lube and the, err, non-chain lube),
    for my own convenience, like.

    Thanks.

One of the nice things of reading UKRM is learning real life British English
(I've read too much technical stuff in American English over the last 15
years). Now if I flame in English I can proudly say "you ****"... thanks
UKRM! (my other source was the articles by Clink at "Streetfighters
magazine"... they should be studied here in English as a foreign language
    subject)

    Not enough space.

I was bloody glad I had the duct tape when the bike got knocked over
    last year. It was even a matching colour :0}

Eh? Oh, no, the sports car (A-H Sprite, IIRC) was parked next to the
bike and took the brunt of the impact. The car that knocked it over
    was a Renault or summat.
